I'm not, but I can have a look at Alex's page on my wife's account.

In other news, I disputed the loss of my Forge 008 with eBay; they got back to me today and have given me a full refund. A new order will be placed tomorrow. I've also decided to buy a battery isolator switch, which will be located within the driver's little shelf to the right of the steering column. This will give me the safety option of turning off the compressor if I was to encounter any issues whilst driving.

James - hat off to you - a massive inspirational machine. you must be very proud. very interesting thread. thank you

Reece

Thanks Reece :) I'll be sure to check out your RR thread.

I received my wiring and cut off switch today, so I got around to fitting it this evening.

Looking at the most discrete place to locate it, I went for the glove box. Template cut, MDF base plate made and finished in black cloth, wires all located and this is the final result.

It's now fail safe and has put my mind at ease. This has been put in so that just in case the pump goes bananas whilst I'm driving, I can just shut it off rather than pulling over and removing the fuse in the bay. I've also change the PSI pressure switch to 90 PSI on - 120 PSI off; this'll give me 4 lifts before the pump kicks in again, and takes just over a minute to fill. Went for spin and it's a cool little feature I have to say :)

What's next? A new car...

Your most welcome. A lot of time and hard earned monies been put into this machine so massive respect to you.

I can assure you now, mine will no where come close to yours other then a serious amount of detail cleaning is about all I can achieve [B)] which is yet to come. Im still getting use to this awesome car and enjoy every journey so far.

Here's the new car as of today...

image-3_zps8be03379.jpg

A VW Passat CC GT Blue motion. 170bhp 2.0L TDI.

I'm pretty surprised that I went for this as I had my heart set on an A4 Avante S-line, but this has every last optional extra, has super low miles, is luxurious and sweet to drive. I just wasn't as keen on the A4 as I thought I would be :( feel very grown up now. It'll get a mega detail in July :)

Seal, you should know better, the LCR will never leave me - too attached...

I'm not surprised mate as you've worked so hard on it and got it to something a lot of people admire

Cheers mate :D You won't be far off. You're certainly ahead and doing something performance wise that I would like to do. I've got to get this respray out of the way first.

I wouldn't say ahead more different direction at present. Performance aside I hope mine gets half as much admiration as yours then ill be happy

Nice little touch with the switch in the glove box, a well thought out mod as always. Lovely new daily you got there, must be nice a contrast to the LCR.

Love to see you're still giving the LCR you're attention, i can totally appreciated how tricky it is to find time for your car with a young family.

Yes, the Passat is completely different. The Leon has barely done 500 miles a year over the last couple of years. My wife will be using it as the daily as I ride a push bike to work. Still finding a little bit of time to tinker. Fortunately the car is in a position of just needing a respray now so if I don't touch it for a few months and let it just sit in the garage, then that'd be fine. It's just that I have a real want to drive it at the minute :)

Tasty daily mate, liking that :)

Cheers Tom. Not quite a Sunday Driver yet mind ... ;)

Going into hibernation…

It pains me to say this but with a 4 month old son, a wife/family/friends and a busy job, opportunity to spend time on the car has become less and less. It just sits and doesn’t get driven, and I can’t bring myself to sell it; there’s so much that I still want to do to the car. So I’ve made the decision to put the car into storage for a year or 2. A fairly drastic decision I know but in order to preserve all that I have done, it’s the best option available to me.

There’s lots of things running through my mind as to what I would like to do to it. Seeing some mega builds, a 4-wheel drive conversion, engine/transmission rebuild, new brakes and a full show-quality respray (with a few minor amendments) are all in my mind. Absolutely, a respray will be done as a first port of call. As many might have experienced with their cars, I seem to sink lots of money into the car to move it forward and keep it maintained to a well kept standard, but seeing the potential of greater mods after 9 years of owning it, my frustration and disinterest for the car in its current state is increasing. With the car now MOT’d, taxed for another year and out of my sight, I can save a bit of money and use it for the above. This is definitely my life-long “Mk 1/2 Golf GTI” project.

So, taking a (hopefully brief) break on my thread, here’s how the car stands today.

One thing I would say if you go 4-wheel drive I wouldn't respray first I'd be we'll peed if it marked the new finish after all the time spent respraying
