i'd chuck some petrol cleaner in there aswell because you get crap in the tank which will make your filter dirtier, quicker than the fuel filter service is due! mine is over due so i shall do the same!
just watch out for the excess fuel that leaks over your face and arms when changing these.... also make sure you have your ignition off and no keys in the car
you all forget one thing, how do you know you get the right fuel in the Garage forecourt in the first place.... the answer....
you dont.
The amount of garages I have heard of, in a number of years who have leaky tanks, water contamination etc is massive. we all hope the fuel we get is clean, but I just dont trust any of them now.
I change my fuel filter on a yearly basis. never any more than 12 months.

So true.. who knows what comes out of those Station Tanks. If the Petrol Station's Tanks are nearly empty and innocent old me pulls up ...I could be filling my car with left over rubbish that has sunk to the bottom of the tank and then gets pulled up.
Yeh just squeeze them. I had to use 2 screwdrivers though, one 2 push the bit in, and one to flick out the holder. My explanation should be self explanitory looking at it.
i work at the place that stores the fuel.all the major supremarkets use us and weve just got the shell contract.
i can tell you that there is atleast 1 filter before it goes onto the truck and these are removed and cleaned every month or 2.its very fine mesh so will barely let the fuel through never mind the crud.lol so your safe there
also the road tankers that deliver it to filling stations are all steam cleaned on a regular basis so it wont be getting dirty from there
i must admit though things can happen and sometimes it does go out with crud in but this should be filtered out by the tankers and the filling stations
also see people who say for example, i find tescos fuel loads better than say morrisons.....ill let you into a secret......it all comes from the 1 mahooooosive tank lol so there talking rubish lol
just to let you guys know lol.
would it be better to run some redex through the car.then change the filter?them you can get some of the sh!i out of the tank and pipes before you change for a fresh filter?

thanks for the respose. DO you know the if the petrol station tanks get cleaned and filtered before entering a car as I can only imagine there must be Sh*t at the bottom of thos underground tanks? Also most of us run V/Power Super Unleaded etc etc wouldnt this be the equivalent of redex when it comes down to cleaning?

no i dont think it would be the equivalent mate.cos redex has been specially made to break down the crud in your pipes and engine.so must have some sort of degreasing property.
weve just got the v-power contract like a month ago and the rules on that are just the same if not more so.it always goes out the cleanest possible
i cannot speak for the filler station tanks though.and tbh imo theyll be mingin!!!!lol.especially underground and prob not cleaned for years.they might get cleaned yearly but ive never once seen any mantenance on the 1 at mine
maybe someone else can comment on the filler station tanks
in a country like egypt, the fuel quality is similar to mud.. i change my fuel filter every 6-7k.. i've decided to do it myself this time though. does anyone have the exact model number for the Seat Leon MK2 fuel filter?
