So as I said above I'm back in a
ibiza Cupra (I must have issues). I've swapped to unlock abit of money from the Leon that I need to put into other things, also I'm not really using the Leon for longer journeys and not seeing the benefit.
So I pick up an 02 plate
ibiza Cupra,this is the 4th
ibiza cupra ive owned and on the surface it looked ok but there were a few horrors and nasty bits that needed attention and to get it up to the standard I have and keep my cars in.ive been working flat out with the car for nearly 3weeks when ever the weather lets me and I'm happy with my progress. The car has been pretty much transformed and is looking a lot more original/OEM+ feel to it.
Within a day the engine bay that was full of vac leaks and things plumbed in wrong looked like this
And after new coolent temp sender, thermostat, inlet mani gasket, injector seals,a lick of paint and vac hosing sorted it looks like this
Since this picture the sai and n249 have been completely removed with resistors. One of my many jobs was sorting out the forge intercooler that was fitted incorrectly and pipes were rubbing on the subframe, one was caught in time and another had to be replaced so the pipe work ran correctly,I'm not sure what the person that previously fitted this was thinking tbh but all is well now and the pipe work has its correct clearance and correct routing.
I then moved to the interior.... Repainted the door handle trims as they had clearly been painted by a blind man, they are much better now. The roof was very rattley so I removed the roof lining and trims to investigate, this was an easy fix and while the roof lining was out I thought it would be rude not to give it the black roof treatment. IMO it looks boss and fairly easy to do if you know what your doing (if you don't leave it alone!) . I just used satin black spray a plastic grip primer for the plastics and it worked a treat.
Covers up a tatty dirty finger print roof lining a treat and all the badly refitted trims were fitted correctly. This is a big job but very satisfying once its done.
All wheels were refurbed from a crap, chavy and Badly painted black to an original looking silver, the calipers were also given the once over in red keeping to the original looking theme.
A deep clean inside and leather treatment and my final result is this. I have not washed the outside of the car yet though.
Current spec now is
Forge intercooler
Forge tip
Forge dv008
JR filter
249 bypass
Sai removed
Weitec coilovers
H&R 20mm rear spacers
HIDs
Cat bact exhaust (I might smash the cat out of the down pipe for a cheap answer to a decat
Possible plans are ko3s and remap to suit and that's it,my main aim is just a very clean OEM+ mk3 Cupra with the right bit on and I don't feel I'm far off that now once a few bodywork bits are done.
Thoughts are welcome.
