I've been tempted by pressed plates as I found a company that claims the ones they do are 100% legal... But im not convinced. I''l probably just end up with a dealer set.

Agree though its easy to chase but often the pressed ones are in the right font etc, there are plenty of other driving offences I see that theyd be better chasing.

Pressed plates are fine as along as the lettering size, text font and spacing is correct and also the plate manufacture have their bs details on the plate.

The latter is usually the issue when ordering the plates off the web etc as most get around it by advertising their plates as "showroom and off road use only" hidden in the small print

Ah, yeah the old "showroom" plates, had a few of them on the motorbikes over the years... a plate the size of a postage stamp, is, as it turns out, frowned upon lol.

I may try the pressed ones then, they have all the legal stuff on them as required and the font and reflective yellow etc etc

Have you looked at the gel plates. Really nice finish and legal.
Also the “4D” plates. Bit of a shop sign look in my opinion.

I've had pressed plates on my car for the past 2 years now. I've never had an issue with them as the font is 100% legal. I think that as long as they show up OK on the in-car ANPR, then you should be fine. They even came with a certificate you could keep in the car that confirmed that they meet all the legal requirements.

I think I am going to be changing my MOT tester, although I do get on quite well with him he disappointed me when I asked him about noise test, he said "I do it by ear" I then asked if he had a db meter as how could he know what 98db was "by ear", told me he didn't need one/didnt have one as all he needed was his ear.

Well my exhaust when decat is loud but even standing still it only produces 86-87Db when tested on track so can’t see how they can tell in an mot centre.
Actual figures are lower than our ears tell us. Brain said ooh loud. Must be xyz.
Couldn’t be more wrong.
