Car failed on both front shocks leaking, it's on ap coilovers so are they the shocks? Or not i haven't got a clue aha!

Only been on 8 months! Yeh I think they did got them fitted at awesome though and they didn't give me anything apart from a receipt so do I need to ring them?
Sorry mate, that's just not right. If the MOT certificate hasn't run out yet then the car still has a valid MOT certificate then it's legal to drive. It may not be roadworthy (which is a different issue altogether) but as far as MOT is concerned it still has one, even if it just failed an MOT.
If you have your vehicle tested (up to a month) prior to the mot expiring then you have a whole month to sort out the issues and get it tested. If it passes then you can have 13 months mot on the vehicle.
Not even VOSA have the power to invalidate an MOT certificate.
If you get your car tested any time after the MOT expires and it fails, it remains an MOT failure obviously. There's a certain amount of time after a test to get some minor items repaired and get a free partial retest.

So if your car fails at one garage, then you can't drive it to another for repairs? I think not.
if it fails, your still allowed to drive it home. & to & from the testing station. so i cant see why you cant drive it to another garage for repairs.
of course you can drive away to get repairs if the car fails the MOT.

But what if your previous MOT doesn't expire for say another 3 weeks?
That cannot be rescinded (Not that I'm aware of anyway) So you've still got a valid MOT, just not a roadworthy car?
If your car fails its mot wether its early or not you have 10 working days to have it repaired and re-tested, be it at the testing station or another garage.
if it fails the test, even if its early and its been logged on to VOSA central computer then its still classed as failled until its logged as passed (its all logged through vosa and this is where the police recordes are sourced, the stored computer data renders the paper cert void), so if you have it tested a month before its due and you still carry the current cert claiming it to be valid then your incorrect and the vehicle has no mot.
And if the dampers (thats what they are classed as) failled for leaking then it would have to be so bad (dripping with oil) that there is risk of the oil contaminating other components such as brakes, either that or it fails the "bounce test".
