Mk4 Bulb upgrades

turborevs was kind enough to email me the installation manual. I had to reduce the size to get it to upload onto photobucket, but you can make out most of it-

yer, he only has the standard sized H7s, and can't see why they won't fit if normal H7 halogens fit, but i'd like a bit more conformation than that b4 i buy the kit! i've posted a question on 2modified's topic about his hid group buy. Hopefully some1 there will help us.

mmm...after doing a search on the forum, i stumbled accross an old hid topic, and by the looks of it, the standard H7 HID bulbs are slightly too long and hit the circular cover thing with lots of holes at the end inside the headlight. Which is why you can get the H7 Rs which are the shortened version.

Well thats a bit of a bummer, as i don't want to pay more than what turborevs was offering, but if he can't get the shortened bulbs, then i may have to.

but only a few people have mentioned this, i wondered if the bulb lengh varied from one company to another

according to hids4u, their bulbs are 3mm shorter anyway, however they also supply a H7 shortened version too.

I've emailed turborevs again to just check whether or not he can supply the short H7s, but im pretty sure he said he can't.

Now that sounds good! See what he says about the shorter H7s too...or, try a H7 bulb in your car and let us know what happens!

You know in your last email, you said that if i was after the Shortened H7s, it would definately have to be a group buy...well i was wondering, is that just the case for the cheaper price?

What i mean is...if i was to pay your normal price of £145 inc p&p, would you be able to get me the Shortened H7 kit for that price? If so, i'll just do that

The thing is we would have to purchase these kits as a special order either way so i'd rather order a few together than in singles, im ordering on monday some more kits the normal h1 and h7 so if i get a number of people wanting the shortened kit can you please let me know by Friday night???

On another note

I just spoke to my regular fitter and he said the h7 ones we do will fit fine, but its down to you guys as to what you want

Well ideally, i'd like the standard H7s, as its easier for yourself, and cheaper for me

However at the same time, i don't want to buy the kit and then when i try to fit them find that they're too long.

Argh...what a predicament!

slightly off the topic off HID kits, but I fitted my new osram bulbs or whatever there called, there well class shud have taken pics but after 12 hours straight working on my car it was last thing I did and well I was tired, But there was a marked inprovment and the extreme white free bulbs were also very good, for free. YAY well worth doing if u cant afford an HID kit and very easy to fit 5mins for me and Im a total nub, as in it took me 6 hours to fit a fog light kit today lol.

I have just spoken with my supplier and they say the smaller h7 bulb is only 1mm smaller then the normal h7 we do, so i am 99.99999% sure there wont be a problem with the normal kit

so how long is it? by my reckoning it needs to be less than 46/47mm ish or it will touch the diffuser

Awesome! That sounds nice and promising.

Sid- when i browsed the HIDs4U website a while ago, i noticed they had a kit called Ultimate or something, which was specifically designed for "problems cars" which included some VWs and Audis and Porches. They also highly recommend it if the car the kit is to be fitted to, is newer than 2002.

Do you know whether your kit will be ok on our cars? Which are all mk4 Ibizas most of which newer than 2002. I ask this as SEAT is a member of the VW & Audi group etc.

How on earth, with the amount of questions i've asked, how am i thinking of more!!?? I do apologise Sid.

Hi

We do T5 kits to overcome problem cars, this is related to warning lights coming on the dashboard like engine management, our T5 kit over-rides this problem, the problem cars are usually Mercedes ML BMW X5 etc

I very much doubt you would have this problem on the Seat Ibiza Mk 4 and the normal kit will be fine. I have a Golf Mk 4 and it fits fine also had the normal kit on a Golf Mk 5 no problems either
