Mine has been making the whinnying noise from the rack for over a year now. Wondered if anyone had experienced this problem before but just got used to it and didnt think there would be so many with the same issue! I will have to take a good look underneath and try and see where the problem is. There is no fluid on my drive when parked up so no major leaks but most probably the pump is on its way out.
Anyone know how difficult it is to change the pump if its gone?

The rack is bolted to the front sub frame.
You will need to drop the sub frame, unbolt the track rod ends then unbolt the rack from the sub frame.
Not too sure how the rack and the steering wheel are linked as not had to do that yet.
While your in ther might as well uprated the front ARB:)

I replaced the wish bone rear which was poly to Audi TT roadster OEM one.
This was only done as was doing the front anyway, I would probably advise poly if your very into getting the best handling possible and not too bothered about extra vibrations. If not just get the TT roadster rear one and the LCR front one. I didn't want to go the whole hog so went for the Audi/LCR combo above. This with the R32 23mm front ARB is fantastic, nothing less:)

Magic thanks for the info. Dont want the ride to be to harsh so think the option of TT/LCR is also my best option. Don't happen to have part numbers do you?
So you also recommend the R32 fron ARB then as i was looking at getting the Eibach front and rears as the Neuspeed ones are to much money, but will have to consider the R32 one aswell now (my worry is that i dont want to buy them until i know exactly which front one to get as i have Koni FSD's fitted and pretty sure that i need the kit for the LCR front as the mounting point is different)?!

my steering is very heavy and making a rumbling/shaking noise (which can be felt through the wheel and seat slightly) unless i rev it gently to about 100 - 200 above tick over then the noise completely dissapears.

could this be tensioner or belt? or could it be PAS pump completely gone?
