to be honest though, getting a job done right, then distance is no option in travelling to the right tuner (within reason of course)

the tuner I have gone to is about 2 1/2 hours away, based on a couple of aspects - they are well respected, have a good reputation and were the only ones who actually showed the right level of interest to want to do the job and have been excellent so far

the likes of Jabbasport said no straight away, fair enough.

However if it was me, I would do it.

I think I rang around every VAG tuner in the UK and no one could do it, apart from three

Star obviously, but even for me thats too far
AMD - but unfortunately they were unable to do the custom map due to their mapper working on another job, which was a real shame as they would have been ideal
Current tuner who are working on the car

the reason I would take on the job is for a number of reasons.

once the gt2x map is done, you have a solid base for adding this to a pre prepared kit, as I see a lot of people wanting about 300bhp, and if the current tuner could offer this map with the base kit as a package then they are onto a winner

I suspect this is what the tuner may do, but fair play to him, as I reckon a well priced package based on my car and modifications would sell like hot cakes to the VAG community, and now the mapping time would be cut from 3 days to 1 (due to now a baseline map) give or take variations in modifications and could well make a very nice profit

Dont suppose there has any pics of the install so far?

no sorry mate, bit difficult as the tuner is doing it and not me, and I am pretty sure he has not taken any pics

I will ask, but very much doubt it, sorry

Im guessing P-torque, they'd probly be able to do quite a good custom map for gt2x.
You mapping it with n75 or mbc/ebc?

mbc = manual boost controller ( in line adjustable jobbo )
ebc= electronic boost controller, im guessing they'd leave the N75 in tho if they've not mentioned it or you,ve not ordered/requested one.

ah right, got ya:)

no not mentioned it, I was thinking the other day about an electronic boost controller and fitting it at a later date, for the winter months......

is it possible to fit an EBC after the map is done, or do you have to do it as part of the initial map?

For piece of mind id get it fitted by the same guys who map it as they know whats going on as far as pressures etc, but not esential to be done stright away.

As you can tell it something i'v been reading up on as i'd quite like to do this as i dont trust the N75 at all but i'd NEVER turn the boost down or am i missing the point??

Well my turbo has blown today! Was wondering why my car had started to use oil as it never normally does, but my boost has been acting weird lately and now today it's belching oil smoke out the exhaust and the turbo is screeching when it comes on boost.

CR Turbos just got another job.
