MIB2 retrofit query

So like most people here I've been looking at retrofitting an MIB2 unit to my car however, upon investigation it looks like I'm in need of a couple things to the point where I'm not quite sure if its the most cost effective thing for me to do.

I was talking to someone who was selling a MIB2 who would code it to my VIN, but he mentioned that with my car being a 14 plate it would need quite a lot of work (new centre cubby, some wiring to take the MIB unit.)

All in he said it would probably cost me around 800 pounds for everything to be done. When i checked my glovebox to look for the MIB unit it appears I in fact do not have one installed in my car, I'm not sure if it previously had one before I bought the car.

I'll link 2 photos below of my glovebox and centre console. If anyone could help with directing me to if this is possible at all or if i am best getting an aftermarket unit instead of going OEM.

Your unit is a very basic one with the CD player built in, you've probably only got six speakers as well.
This did not have anything in the glovebox.

The bad news is that to fit a MIB2 unit will require lots of stuff and hence will be quite expensive (see the retrofits list). Perhaps the good news may be that because you don't have the glove box head unit it means an aftermarket stereo might actually be a better idea and be cheaper/easier to fit.

Something like this might be ok (but check features, compatibility and suitability carefully first!), seen it on Ebay for about £290:

Might be cheaper but likely won't be as integrated (eg. 'CAR' menu) as a MIB2 unit would be..
