Loud Vibrating Noise from engine bay

Hi there - first post. Wanted to say how great the forum here is - got the car back from the garage after a fairly major repair on my 02 Mk4 Tdi 130 Sport (new oil cooler, new water pump, don't ask!). When I got it back the engine made a horrid roaring noise which I thought at first was some kind of exhaust problem. Having read this thread (and the particularly useful picture) and wedged some kitchen roll between the pipe and the filter. Bingo! I now have a cut down piece of kitchen sponge lightly stuck between the two, which is doing the job nicely until I can get a longer term solution sorted.

right ok sorry about above trying to work out how to get the pic up. PLEASE can someone help ive got vibrating noise to ive tryed the intercooler pipe and fuel filter mod with a it of rubber and its not that. in the above picture what is the black squarish box, it seems like it comes from there sometimes. and i get more often a slight vibration through the footwell it seems i duno whats doin on. i have taken it apd vag in poole who are good acording to some people on hear when they did my cambelt they said it was fine it was the engine cover so they took itoff but its not solved it i duno if its just noise a diesal engine makes or if its me please help !!!

for this vibration noise i would definately check the quick fix before replacing the DMF...just done that with aftermarket parts and the vibration has come back after 200 miles (all parts are sachs and can withstand more than the standard map which im running atm due to turbo going )

Sorry to revive such an old post, but im experiencing the same noise on my Ibiza 1.4 sport (2006), but did not find the intercooler pipe there

Erm...... maybe because it is a normally aspirated petrol engine and not a Turbo Diesel

Look for something else vibrating.

Yeah that makes sense i guess

The hard thing about finding the vibration cause it that it only happens while driving , around 2500-3000 rpm.. I might try putting a camera in the booth and record it.

Mine does it too around 1500 - 2000 rpm. Very annoying but I've got used to it now.
