Only took a week and I have a brand new Cupra alloy with tyre although its not a Pirelli apparently Arnold Clark dont deal with them.? Considering I've had the car for over 6 months didn't make a fuss about it. And I kept the steel wheel. Apart from 3 trips to the dealers and a 3 phone calls it cost me nothing.

A LESSON TO BUYERS OF NEW CARS CHECK ITS GOT THE CORRECT SPARE WHEEL. Dont wait 6 months to find out it should be an alloy. They could have easily got away with sayin too much time has passed not our problem any more.

I think the tyre the new alloy has is a 'Hankook ventus' type.

any one know anything about this tyre?

nope just same types of tyre.
...but not brand. I think you mean cross-ply or radial?

At least you got sorted in the end - I swear I'll never go near an Arnold Shark again if I can help it. They tw*ted me around when I had my Clio.

And it's not that rare to have a spare that doesn't fit over the front brakes - all EP3 CTRs are like that as they come with a crappy space-saver spare (still better than a can of foam though). Thankfully it was the rear I clipped on a rock and destroyed my sidewall. Pimpin':

I'm planning on just using a steel as a spare, shouldnt cost much from a scrappy. I'm not gonna pay for an alloy to sit in my boot most of its life, when a steel will do the same job with a little effort.

Get yourself over to Great Western Road and the wheel/tyre places there - just ask 'em for a 2nd hand alloy for you car and say it's just to use as a spare as the steely does not go over the brakes you have.

Done the same when getting my rather large front brakes about 18 months back, guy found one form a golf, same size (225/40/18) and it's in quite good condition (only some light surface scrapes) - best thing was he also stuck a road-legal trye on it .... all for £35 :)

Whats the address?

I can't remember now what shop it was .. there are a few.... they are all in the first 1/4 mile after the M8, on the right hand side as you drive from the M8, next to Maplin Electronics.

Best just poping-in at the weekend, if they see you really want one and have a wee bit of cash to spend on something they would usualy scrap (they get £15 for a scap alloy) they'll sort you out :)
