My leon went into limp mode for the first time today but was fine once i turned the car off and back on.
My turbo hasnt been sounding quite right so could it be to do with that.
If i got it diagnostics would it show why it went to limp mode

Had limp mode from sticky vanes from 80,000-130,000 changed the egr for an allard and it slowly got better now at 140,000 and doesn't happen

It taught me to drive slower haha

Sorry this thread is about diagnostics

You run a few test with VAG COM (£10 eBay cable and a laptop with freeware VCSD lite)

You can log the following which also cause limp mode or can be the cause of sticky vanes (I think)

The MAF
The MAP
The EGR
Turn down the egr (might need to buy for £62)

And lots of other things can be checked/monitored not just a fault code scan.

Fault might have been sorted.
I was able to clean the acurator vanes and the car feels more powerful then before and hasnt gone into limp mode. Tested it out on the motorway. :)

If you undo the loosen the pipe going from bottom of egr to top of turbo area and stick a small pipe down there such as washer jet pipeing and use that to spray some mr muscle oven cleaner untill it foams up.

Then remove pipes and run for a few seconds so the mr muscle can get into the acurators.
Spray more muscle into pipe and work acurator from the outside.
repeat untill it moves freely.

there are other methods but this seems the best one if you dont want to go under the car.

there is a thread on it on one of the forums and its about 38 pages long with various methods.

That wouldn't happen but I'd be concerned about the stuff eating the alloy, I'd prefer to rinse it out if possible.
