Lights-on warning buzzer not working

A few weeks ago my lights-on warning buzzer stopped working - only found out when I had a flat battery [:@]. I rarely hear the buzzer anyhow because I usually remember to switch the lights off before the engine.

The buzzer's failure seems related to the fact that the interior light doesn't come on when I remove the key after switching the engine off. The interior light still comes on when I open the drivers door. I've checked the fuses and can find none that are blown.

There is a similar post on this site but that seems to be due to the door sensor not working. My sensor seems to be working as already explained as it comes on when I open the door.

Any ideas people?

In my case, it was a dodgy set up on the hi-fi I had put in a week or so before. Something to do with the permanent live feed. I think the feed which is only meant to have power when the ignition was in had always got power. Therefore the lights on buzzer 'thought' the ignition was always on - something like that.

The dealership investigated the problem and told what the problem was. Had to pay to have it sorted out properly.
