hi m8. based in coventry. it feels lyke it strugggles to get to 30mph then the cars fine, its got all the poer i need. but on the motorways sometimes when i hit 80, it feels as if sumthing jus cuts out and wnt go past 80. som1 sed it mite be a air flow sensor

try unplugging it to see if there is any improvement. it is quite a common issue and an easy fix................ its just annoying when it happens!

same exact thing happend to me once, except i was driving at very excessive speeds on my way to stoke on trent at night (was in rush) cars ECU thought the turbo had fault as it was running full for about an 1.5 hours it switched into limp mode... scared **** outa me. felt like i'd run outa fule .. then realised that my turbo was being by-passed and that my company van was quicker than my car!!! any way never happend again ater that for me however maybe you do actually have a fault and your car switches to limp mode. whats it like after an engine switch off and on agian?

unplug the MAF sensor, see how it goes. its a dead common problem so if you need help with that have a search back through the TDI section.

The only way to tell for sure is to get vag com on a laptop and log the MAF, if thats ok then i would log the boost. I presume you havent got loads of smoke coming out the back?

thats right that the turbo doesnt kick in untill 3000 revs, thats the case with all derv turbos isnt it?

you have to ride the turbo to get performance out of it.

im sure your local stealer would easly plug it in and tell you if there are any faults.

1.8T blocks are different

002
010
115
and 118 are most commonly used with the 1.8Ts.... not 100% sure which is which, but out of those you have MAF, Timing, Intake Temps, and boost...
