TBH if you are struggling to pay for this don't bother.
This itself will not make a huge difference but with a S3 front upper strutt brace and uprated front ARB its great.

But if you only fit this then you will have a car that wants to oversteer, you really don't want this on your first track day on the ring.
Teamed with other mods its great on its own its a no no

Willie is definately right about the ARB's.

I've got the R32 23mm front and Whiteline 24mm adjustable rear, along with front and rear strut braces, on standard shocks and springs. The difference in handling is unbelievable! :)

They are 'must do' mods if you ask me. ;)

Just ordered 4 Goodyear Eagle F1 Assys, fitting tomorrow hopefully!

Also had the famed water pump failure earlier this week, so now have the metal impeller pump fitted with new cambelt kit to boot :)

After all this, it's looking like the trip to the ring is going to be a no no for me, cant afford this as well!!

really looking forward to seeing how she behaves with the new rubbers though!

OK maybe I forgot to update this for a while!

The Remap was taken off as it didn't seem to be giving any benefits (MAF readings were no higher than standard, boost levels were pretty standard. Credit to Forge for standing by their good rep for customer service and giving a full refund for this.

I never got to the ring - as mentioned, funds were an issue, and similar story for the others I was supposed to be going with. I really regret not going while I had the chance, sometimes wish I had a 'live for now worry about it tomorrow' attitude with money and could just bang it on a credit card or something like so many people seem to do these days!

Anyway, the car is now gone, and I am quite gutted if I'm honest! I've moved house / job and now have a 60 mile round trip down the M1 5 days a week, which was costing me way too much in V-Power in the LCR.

As much as it pains me to say it, I needed a (diesel)! and have now got myself an 03 plate Audi A6 2.5 V6 TDi. I can't see my leaving SCN though, I've had the car for a couple of weeks and still haven't found an Audi forum half as good as this one!

Whenever I see an LCR I keep toying with the idea of getting another one for a weekend car, but after experiencing how much of a black hole for money they are to run and mod I don't think that will be happening for a while! (Fingers crossed for a promotion?! haha)

This feels like this is an end of an era so I feel sort of obliged to give some sort of closing speech, so thanks to all of the nice folk on here who have answered my many questions, sharing their knowledge and massively expanding my knowledge of the 1.8t engines, and thanks to the 400 odd people who have read this thread about my little old beauty!

Cheers

Ben

Sorry to hear about this but you have the right attitude on this.
What's the point of busting the bank when your young for a car?
Life only gets more expensive later on with wife/kids etc

I was keen on getting a 2.5 V6 TDi too but the stories of the cam wear worried me.
My mate had a 180 BHP Quattro A4, it sounded great for a diesel.
I ended up buying an A4 2.0 TDI FWD and love it, especially the easy 45 MPG.
Diesel is so the way to go for an every day car, petrol for weekend fun :)

Thanks for the replies,

Willie, yeah I did worry a bit about the cam stories, but I've read if you keep up with the oil changes it can suppress the issues quite well. The car only has 60k on the clock and has been serviced every 10k (admittedly more miles than I would leave a car between oil changes but seeing as though for a diesel the engine is pretty new I'm not too worried).

Now I've got it I'll probably look to be changing the oil every 6-7k or so with fully synth (think the handbook just says vag approved multigrade, doesn't specify anything decent so can't see the garage where it has been serviced having spent more than they need to!) so will hopefully keep the cams running OK.

Like you said - the V6 es don't sound half bad for a diesel! And although the economy will never beat a 1.9 or 2.0, I reset the computer this morning as I was getting on the M1, and cruising at 60-65 I was getting 52-54mpg which isn't half bad!!!
