Hi there guys & gals,

when starting my leon for the first time in the mornings it seems to have a rough idle, almost like it is being throttled, splirts quite abit until it comes of the revs, I know you might say they all do that a bit, mine has not always had this rough idle.

I am thinking it could be the throttle body needs a good clean or the idle control valve thingy?

anyone had this prob and knew what sorted it out? any help would be appreciated, thanks ;)

remember my 20vt doing that...believe it's a trait of the car something to do with the oil being pushed around the engine...nothing to worry about and you will note that it soon disappears once on the move.

Actually I quite liked the throaty sound it made, sounded like it was waking up thinking "I'm in for a thrashing soon".

could well be the coolant temperature sensor.mines has been replaced due to the symptons you describe, does it get worse if you whack on the aircon/radio/wipers etc? does it run a bit **** if you pull off straight away?stutters etc

It happens when you first turn the car on and it is on choke, sounds like an old man splutering his guts out, when the revs die down it does not spluter, it is almost like it is coked up (excuse the punt) with ****, possible throttle body? or how about this idle control valve? could be coolant sensor just dont know.

will try and get it on the vag com and see if anything comes up?

** yes I do get a little splutter when pulling away?

Did you manage to find anything out cupra-c ya ?

I have the same thing. It's so bad that it feels like it's going to stall if I try to pull away, even when over-revving.

If I sit still and wait for the idle speed to drop off so it's not on choke (I presume) then it's fine.

Have not found out anything from vag com, im just gonna clean the throttle body and see what happens, no doubt this will be the first time the TB has been cleaned in 50k miles so will be pretty shitted up, will post up if this helps the idle prob.

try the alignment also, open door and bonnet ,turn on ignition and listen for the high pitched whistle from the engine bay, when it stops, thats it aligned

I have done that before and done it through vag com, will do this after I clean the TB, unsure wether to take the whole thing off and clean it or just do it on the car, would have to take a pipe or 2 off to do it. Need to find somewhere that I can get those OE clips for the pipes, maybe the dealer?
