Hmm, mine starting making the noise after fitting an INA kit, just done a belt change on the girlfriends TT using the same kit and that's started to make the same noise just no where near as bad, can just hear it.

Five years ago I put Gates set and had the same sound. I thought SKF will be better...but no... I think it's not related to the brand...rather to the setup and assembly by the mechanic. Something has not setup correctly. One of my friend told me, it has to be the tensioner... The belt is too tight.

Tensioner is hydraulic not manual though, once the belts fitted pull the pin and that's it?
Yes you are correctly... that's why I don't understand how it can be assembled wrong...

Just wondering if anyone ever got to the bottom of the noise after a cambelt change I had mine done just before Christmas and that noise is there car runs spot on though. Took it to the vag specialist who done it and they are going to look at it again for me in April I’ll see what the outcome is and post back. But if anyone has any more info until then please let me know

The garage took longer to do mine because they said it was making a noise when they first did it so had to spend more time fixing it.
So a decent garage will be able to sort it.
