Dougie would the halford rear carriers fit the leon?
How are they fitted? I am just trying to work out where they sit against the car.

Yeah, they'll fit fine. l've used 2 of the Halfords one's over the years and never had any issues as long as l use the cotton reels and sleeves for the strapes to protect the paint.

the rear carriers are gash, they scratch your paint

get some Thules with aerobars, well worth it

Theres nothing wrong with the rear mounted one's at all, as long as you fit them correctly! The only time people scratch their paint is when they fit them incorrectly because they haven't got a clue what they're doing! Yeah, the roof mounted kit is good, but not only is it a dam sight more expensive, they screw your mpg up too!!

I fitted a removeable towbar to my LCR. Got a custom made 2 bike Pendle rack that fitted onto the towbar with extra wide tracks to take larger type downhill tyres - use to do the National series so was away most weekends throughout the summer. Steady as a rock even at silly 3 figure speeds. Come to think of it iv,e still got it stashed away in the loft if anyone wants it.

These bad boys are wicked! Certainly the best option by far but of course, you have to have a towbar to be able to use them...which l don't :p

Do the rear bike carriers have to be high rise or would the normal ones fit ok, is there any pics to show a rear bike carrier fitted that would help see how they sit.

If I was taking bikes on holiday then I'd definately invest in the Thule roof bars so that I can still use the rear seats and boot; but so far I've only needed to transport bikes around for day trips so I just put the seats down, lay down a painters dust cover, and slide the bike in on its side with the front wheel removed.

I like to be able to use my boot, and since I drive an LCR I blatantly dont care about petrol consumption (it's only a tiny difference anyway). Look on ebay, you can get roof bars cheap. You know it makes sense.
