James, remember to budget for new top mount bushes and bearings, probably about £70.
These are a must on a with your sort of miles if you haven't done these already

I'm in the process of getting my springs changed anyone know the part no.s for the top mount bushes and bearings? Mines done 135k so would think they need doing.

My car allegedly had new shocks fitted just before I got it and visually sits level. I have noticed that some spring kits list different drops front and rear i.e. 50/30 will this not make the car look like a 70's hot rod I was looking at getting the weitec -30 all round springs will my car sit level on this set up

Any advice appreciated.

I don;t understand having different springs lowering the rear of the LC? surely they should be std they are MK1V Golf platform springs?.......and should match the front? if the people selling them can;t confirm this I'd steer clear

Do you know the make of the dampers or even IF they were fitted to your car?

It seems to me your going to try and pair some random springs with an unknown drop, to some unknown dampers and your hoping for improved performance I guess.....or just looks?

i paid 245 for koni street springs and shocks for that money its well worth it. Not low but nicer looking.

dnt want to take over the tread but Damian do you know if the 40 or 50mm lowering springs will fit koni shock or can you supply rear only as id like the back a bit lower on mine.

I have a set of no brand coilovers, got them off here brand new (secondhand) for £170 (£199rrp)I had them fitted last week and I've got to say that they're great, could do with being a little stiffer but they haven't compromised the ride at all, turns in a bit sharper.....very happy

The bloke I bought em off said he'd got them from ebay and they the same colours as the Jamex ones, red springs and blue adjusters.

Worth saving a few extra pennies if you ask me
