Setting Alarm Chirps

Just had a look on the VAG.Com diagnostics pages and found this

its dead easy to do with vagcom.
Open 46 (conveneince module)
open 10 (adaptation)
Scroll through the numbers till you see "alarm horn" lock/unlock
Change the 0 to a 1 and click save (on both lock and unlock)
Job done.

Guess I'm going to have to rig up my PC in the garage, or something, or take th carto a SEAT dealer, I'll ring them tomorrow, and see what they'll charge to do it, if it's not much, I'll go ahead, cheaper than buying all the associated gubbings to do it myself I expect ???

No worries, will ring them tomorrow and post it up tomorrow night.

My laptops bust, I dropped it and broke the screen.... So rather than spend loads on a new one, this could be the cheaper option at the mo'

If the stealer wont do it, try finding a VAG Specialist that has VAG-COM. Places like Jabba, JBS, JKM etc. I'm sure they will do it for you, especially if you have the instructions right there!

Alarm Chirpy, Chirpy.... Cheep Cheap !!!

I phoned a Seat main dealer this morning, they wanted a tad under £43.00 inc VAT to do it, which would take around 30 minutes, which is fairly resonable in my books.

Also tried Formula One in Brighton, they wanted £30.00, so guess where i'm going then..... at some point in the next couple of weeks hopefully. :D

Think I'll get them to do the window roll up on the key while I'm at it.

Apparently you can get it for 20 quid on ebay.

The chirp's illegal by the way. Not exactly gonna get arrested for it, but I guess if someone wanted a reason to report you..?

In reply to the "window up mod" - £20, not the chirp.

It's apparently illegal. Considered to be an "nusiance"

Well I can't verify it, so feel free to assume it's not?

I'll try find out where I read it.

no way is the chirp illegal!!!! you might as well make mobile phone ring tones illegal!!!

why do you think it's turned off in the UK

summat to do with the horn being used and the 23:00 rule

is a bit overkill i admit but to be honest after about the 4th time you start to feel a right c**k so id advise against it

meep meep :p

i was under the impression that the horn wasnt used for the chirp.

although i know that it is illegal to use your horn after 23:00 in a built up area (who decides whats built up???).

seems dull to me if thats true, yet again the government being complete b*****ds to motor enthusiasts!!!

crack down on the kids and their irritating ring tones i say!!!

may have been germany though that rule was for - i know upon activation the vag diagnostics flash up a warning about it

which by the way works out nothing near £50 of labour if you know what to do
