Leon Alarm Problems

I am now on my second Leon 2.0T FR. The first I had was on an 06 plate which eventually was replaced with the alarm going off all the time. Apparently something to do with a door module.

After having been without the first car for about 8 weeks, they finally relented and gave me an identical model on a 56 plate.

This has now done just over 2000 miles (same as the first) and the same fault has occurred.

Interior light also flashes on randomly, which the first one also did.

Looked for a thread on the forums about this but couldn't find one. Just wondering how many others are suffering this same issue.

Driving me mad!!

Door lock control unit the baine of our existence it is what its name suggests it also controls the electric windows, the problem is affecting leons alteas and toledos, the problem is its not an off the shelf part and has to be ordered by Seat technical and because it has to fit the chasis number it has to be built therefore taking upto 8 weeks at a time. we have 4 here at the moment with the same problem.

I am in the process of rejecting the vehcile and am being told it can be repaired in 24 hours, the dealer in question not haveing even seen the car. I dont believe this is possible, is it BS or has he stumbled accross something magical?

Well, things are moving on. I've still proceeded with the rejection, but I heard it direct from SEAT UK, and the dealer in question that he and they are absolutely certain that using a donor vehicle and swapping the units will work, I also got the statement from SEAT UK that "a number of dealerships" had now proven that using this method infact works.

I quizzed as to why if this were true that people were sometimes waiting months to have useable cars which didn't warrant ASBOS, I was told that they wanted to avoid a "he who shouted loudest" situation in getting vehciles priortized and fixed, and that the fix wasn't infact chassis related.

Now I dont believe them, and my local dealer (who I didn't buy the car from) also is saying the exact same thing you are, and has infact tried to fix cars in this same way but failed, but the dealer in question is picking the vehcile up today and has written to me in black and white that the vehcile will be fixed and returned to me (60 miles away) by the end of today.

I am not holding my breath.

Well, I have the car back now and so far the alarm has not gone off. The door locking when driving off now seems different, but at the moment I can't put my finger on why it is different.

They have managed somehow in this process to badly damage both drivers side alloys, but this might have been the AA on collection, but this should be sorted seperately.

I dont know if I expect this "fix" to last or not at the moment. Have you tried this "donor vehicle" fix before??

Thank You Mach4. I've read the thread now, missed it before.

My wheels still have not been fixed, nor a remedy proposed for doing so.

On the upside, the alarm has not gone off since I had it back. It has dented my confidence in the car, as I am not 100% convinced that it is a permanent fix, or if I have just been sorted out for a couple of months.

Enjoy driving the car a lot, but am seriously considering offloading it now anyway. Probably a bit of a knee jerk reaction, but nonetheless, it will probably be sold off in the near future.

UPDATE:

As of today, the alloys are now fixed, and the alarm hasn't yet gone off, so all in all not a bad result.
