Leon 5F MQB navigation to Ibiza 6J PQ25 2008 - 2015 mod

Hi,
this is my new crazy mod for Ibiza 6J. I think that its possible retrofit Leon 5F navi to Ibiza 6J.

1.
Mounting Display unit
Leon 5F display module 5,8" or 6,5" is (min)Std version so fit to Ibiza 6j dashboard without problems. Its needed make only faceplate and sideholders for mounting the display unit. Picture with display unit.

2.
Mounitng MIB unit
Next step is mounting mib main unit somewhere in ibiza 6J. Originally in leon 5F mib unit is located in glove box but ibiza 6j glove box is smaller without place for mib unit but exists glove box for Ibiza 6P compatible with Ibiza 6J dashboard and this one have slot for mib unit. Part number 6P1 857 103 + 6P1 857 114C
3.
Wirring
Its possible to make reduction between old quadlock and new quadlock connector with cable for display unit. Display unit is communicating with main unit via separate can bus and video is transfered via FPD-Link II standard (twisted pair)

USB
Usb and video connector is Dacar 535. There is more media units available for mib unit.
For MIB2 there is usb + aux socket with part number 5g0035222e or 5g0035222h
This socket isnt compatible with old Ibiza 6j tunnel (center console) but there is available center console 6p2863241b fully compatible with Ibiza 6J

4.
Mib unit pairing to car
New MQB platform (like Leon 5F) have component protection feature. Its not possible pair 5F Radio/navigation with old platform car in standard way.
There are 2 problems:
1. Mib unit have internal timer and if no valid component protection master is detected up to 8 hours so mib unit will be cp locked. In locked state permanent mute is activated and big text with message CP locked is showed.

2. Pq25 bcm in ibiza 6j, polo 6R ..... is different platform as new MQB so there is different can bus speed and different communication direct connection is not possible.

I am working on device called MMLink for translation between PQ <-> MQB

This project was paused because I came across a big problem. MQB platform like leon 5F is using different database of canbus messages so mib navigation and other modules from mqb are not compatible with old platform I am working on device for translating traffic but its very hard work because there is too few informations on the web.

Hi, there is still lot of work but I have some progress:
Headunit on/off after ignition on/off is working but checksum is still problem
Dimming adjustment is working
Time synchro is ok
Mileage from can gateway ok
VIN from can gateway ok
Outside temp ok

Speed ,RPM, fuel consumption statistics, climatronic data, multifunction controller data not translated yet so not working.

MIB unit from MQB platform is very good device because there can be showed lot of informations from car but mqb platform is totally different so without additional device for translating traffic is not possible to connect mqb mib unit to pq car.

Hi guys, so after long time of the development I think that all standard functions include board computer, steering wheel controls are working. At the moment I am testing it and debugging. I have developed device called mmlink for bridging old pq platform with new mqb platform. With mmlink its possible connect all MIB units from mqb to pq platform. When device will be completly tested I can to publicate details. For park assistant and wheel pressure sensors is needed to replace control unit with one from mqb - these arent CP protected. I dont have tested it at the moment

Hi,
project is live, when final PCB will be done , I can publicate details.

RTC is integrated, MIB unit can display correct date , I have finished fw upgrade/config utility.

Now I am integrating communication with mfa+ display. In the future configuration of the mmlink will be possible via mfa+
My goal is integrate telephone book to mfa+ , where MQB MIB unit is as data source. At the moment BT PHONE in MIB unit is working fine but it isnt possible controll it via MFA+ only via touchscreen.

Hi, at the moment I am trying MIB2 High harman unit with my module. Original unit is from audi MLE platform and as I found that there is difference between MLE vs MQB in communication.

After some research I am able to reflash audi unit to seat unit. Seat originally havent unit with gsm module and sim card but still there is problem with activating all functions. I am working on solution.

Summary after one year reversing pq , mqb can bus communicartion and MIB units

I have developed device to translating communication between pq - mqb platform.
Still is needed to make some optimisations but I can write that MQB MIB is NOW fully integrated to PQ platform!!!!

Via this device MIB unit can communicate with PQ cluster too!
There is new Audio menu in cluster but I think that I can integrate NAV and Telephone menu too!

Device for translation will be available for sale or I can offer complete kit with MIB1 unit + 5,8" display module or MIB2 HIGH unit + 6,5" display module.

What about all the car settings and options with mib1/2 system? Are the options accesable like the Leon 5F to change etc?

And is everything plug and play or is there any coding with vcds or vcp needed?

Hi, I have sucessfully installed OEM glove box with mib unit holder from Ibiza Connect (Ibiza 6P) to my ibiza 6J. Part number 6P1 857 103 + 6P1 857 114C. Only small modification is needed if Ibiza 6J have glove box with document holder from factory as I wrote above. Otherwise there is needed dashboard modification to fit bigger box as in my case.
