Hey guys I've just placed my order for a Leon 2.0TSI 190BHP DSG and just wondered if anyone knew of any information on the engine?

As I'd heard it's a detuned Golf GTI engine, but don't know if it's simply a de-tune or if the Turbo is different/smaller etc?

Just heard it was an EA888 Gen 3.

I'm sure I read somewhere it has a different gearbox with a lower torque rating than what the GTI has. Don't quote me on that though.

Have a look on the Audi forums mate. It's been out for a couple of years now I think. Sure there will be some folks who can offer some feed back.

It’s the same engine as you’ll find in the current A4 and A5’s up to the newest 19 model years and also the VW Arteon. Mean to be nippy and decent on juice

Thanks for all your help guys :) definitely made the right choice with the engine.

Looks like the current Gen Audi's with that engine are mapping to around 256-300bhp depending output think the 225bhp version is 300bhp, the 180bhp is around 250bhp.

Think the DSG Box is a wet clutch DQ381.

Been looking at a 180 but tempted to hang on now... did you go FRsport @vmark89? Think I saw something about virtual cockpit comes as standard now?

Yes mate went for a 2.0TFSI DSG FRSport which has the Digi Dash and added Winter pack, Leather Seats, Chassis Control and 18" Wheels :) shouldn't be too much longer before it arrives I'm hoping as they said the beginning of Oct :D

when did you order it? Did they say what year?
I ordered mine 13th April and been told mid to end October at the earliest....

According to Scroggs last post the Leon 5dr FR Sport is 18-20 weeks from when the factory accepts the order

I was also assuming the 190ps 2.0 litre is an EA888 engine, as with Polo GTI, Golf GTI, Golf R, Cupra etc. Of course there will be physical differences between a lot of them as well as tune. The 190ps is probably a slightly de-tuned 200ps one that's found in the Polo GTI (both running at 320nm).

The 2.0 litre EA888 really has an impressive range with 190 to 310 outputs as standard and there are people that have tuned them way past 400. People only "complain" about a slightly boring engine and exhaust sound.

It's a good move away from the 1.8 engine which wasn't much more economical and always limited to that pesky 250nm.

I assume that it’s the same engine found in the A3, which the 1.5TSi 150 also features in.

Oddly enough, according to the latest Seat Leon brochure the 0-60mph time for the 190PS remains 7.2 seconds but I assume that the extra torque should see half a second knocked off that time; as it does in the *A3.

1.4TSi: 147bhp / 184lb / 7.9secs
1.5TSi: 147bhp / 184lb / 7.9secs
1.8TSi: 177bhp / 184lb / 7.2secs
2.0TSi: 187bhp / 236lb / *6.6secs (6.0secs with Quattro)

Revo and Shark (who I used for my 180PS) don’t appear to have a map available for this new version that I can see tho but sounds like the updated DSG should allow them to go further than they can with my DQ200.

Ordered it September mate and just spoken to the dealer who've said it should arrive in Port 21st Oct, so should be looking for around 27th/28th Oct for collecting hopefully :D.

Really impatient so it's killing me even for that short a period of time

Wait till you start tracking the ship it's own...that's when the pain really comes!! Especially when the ship bypasses port of Sheerness (at least mine was that one) goes to Germany first, and returns, I suspect with more German motors bound for UK!

Funny you should say that already tracking it after getting off the dealer ships called Pegasus Ace think it's only just set off from UK yesterday

Mine was on a ship called the 'City of Oslo.' I told my car crazy friends this, and one very unhelpfully showed me a pic of the 'Hoegh Osaka,' with a quote 'it could happen to you!'

Just my two cents

I’ve currently got an a3 hire car, and it has the above engine, tied with a 7 speed dsg box. Good engine plenty of torque and surprisingly good mpg in eco mode.
Milton Keynes to Scunthorpe circa 130miles @70mph avg got me 53mpg.

However put it in (dynamic) sport and watch it drink fuel, more so than the 1.8.
