i have an 05 plate seat leon 1.9 Tdi FR. It has regular service and has done 50,000k
In the last few days i noticed that when using the remote central lock it seemed to unlock and then lock itself straight away. (the locking mechanism made a noise as though unlocking and then locked again. A few more presses on the key and eventually it would unlock, and i was able to press the fob again to get the other doors open.
I assumed that the battery in the fob was going and so replaced it. This did not solve it.
The next thing that happens is when i am driving along the alarm starts and the hazard lights flash. The red light on the drivers door also flashes. If i leave it, the alarm stops after about 15seconds, and the indicators stop flashing but the light on the door keeps flashing. The alarm will then go off again a short time later. I have to take the keys out, and press it as though unlocking the doors and then restart the car.
I have read similar threads and various thind=gs are mentioned as to what could be the cause. What do you suggest is the best course of action. I have not tried disconnecting the battery and leaving for 30 minutes for the internal computer thing to get its knickers out of the twist they seem to be in. Is this my best course of action or does it sound serious?
Bear in mind i am no mechanic so please Keep it as simple as poss, and talk real slow!! Cheers
