Hi all,

newbie here and Im looking for some information from those in the know.

Basically Im currently looking at trading in my current car for a Leon 1.4 tsi sport.
Its a 2010 car on a 59 plate.

I'm looking for info o this particular engine with it being turbo supercharged injected.

I've looked on the net and seen some reports of this vag group engine suffering from a few issues, but id prefer to hear from people who already own one what the deal is.

I've had a test drive in it today and it feels really nice to drive and quite quick and nippy.

So does anyone know of any genuine issues with it etc?
Can anyone help please?.

Very grateful in advance of replies.

It's not supercharged in the Leon mate, only turbo'd. kicks out about 125 bhp, it's a peach of an engine. had an 08 plate reference sport before we had the FR, only problem we had in 2 years was air con failure that was fixed under warranty, oh yes and a bone hard ride, but should be better on an f/l model!:D

Thanks mate.

Id googled 1.4 tsi engine and it took me to a vw forum going on about issues with piston slap and bore wear and rattly running when cold and i thought Christ!!.

So i assumed the same engine was in the Leon.

Thanks its putting my mind at rest a little really especially when your parting with the thick end of £9k lol

I believe all the issues like that have been with the higher power twin charged one. our's didn't miss a beat, revved like a dream and didn't use any oil at all (better than current ride!) welcome to the site and enjoy! :D

The turbo only 1.4 TSi 122 seems a pretty solid and reliable lump almost a polar opposite to the 1.4 TSi 180 lump that can be very troublesome and due to be replaced with a 1.6 turbo.

Well I've done the deed. I've told the dealer Im going to have it.

Paying the deposit tomorrow and should have it by the weekend.

Its a lovely piece of kit all in all. Cruise control auto lights and wipers. Rear parking sensors. Tyre pressure warning system. Climate control. That's what i can remember off the top of my head. There is other stuff.

This will be my first Seat after having fords so looking forward to the change.

That is the thing with the Leon is has a decent spec on most trims, with rear PDC/auto lights and wipers you must have the convenience pack so get an auto dimming iterior mirror as well.

Nice car and I am sure you will be very happy it!!

thanks,

all ia can say is roll on Saturday morning

im pretty happy with the deal i got.

The Leon is £8891, got £1300 for my 52 plate Focus and got 12 mths road tax thrown in.

all in all it cost me £7690 to change. for a 22 month old car, still has 14 months SEAT warranty left so no worries there

just spent the best part of an hour ripping out all my stereo/10 disc CD changer out of the focus and retuning all the dash/switches to standard, as i'd swapped it out for blue LED's.

been a bit of a ball ache in the dark, with just the interior light and a torch lol :D

1st job with the Leon is to upgrade the speakers and try and fit my Sony head unit and cd changer in the boot.

cheers for all the replies fella's and the warm welcome :funk:

Congrates you'll love it mate. I hadone as a hire car the other week and very impressed, felt really quick (almost as quick as my FR round town) and very sure footed.

Enjoy it.... what colour is it?

Well i now have my emotion red Leon and Im very happy with it.
Even though the dealer had valeted it i had to make sure it was ready for the winter months with a wash, claying, polish and wax this afternoon.

The paintworks has come up a treat. Definitely got a deeper and glossier shine than when i picked it up.

Just a couple of little niggles to sort with the dealer on Monday.

With the steering wheel straight the car is pulling to the right so the alignment/tracking is out. Never noticed it on the test drive.

Also i think the electric mirrors are suppose to fold in automatically when the car is locked?.
The interior control button has 2 symbols on it one at 12 o'clock which i think is for the heated mirrors and one at 6 o'clock which i think folds them in. But i cannot get them to fold using the switch.

Can anyone shead any light before i take it back to Evans halshaw on Monday?
Edit: The mirror switch does work to adjust the mirrors just doesn't fold them in.

Sorry didnt read the bottom bit, try spinning the mirror adjust it all the way round or off then on then keep doing it. Obviously the car should be stationary or it doesnt work (ive tried it lol)

Thanks for the tips mate.
Yes it does work when holding the lock button down for 3 seconds.
Also I discovered that if I hold down the unlock button for 3 seconds it drops all the windows down about a quarter of the way down and turns on the head lights!.

Will try the interior mirror switch in tomorrow and see if I can get it to fold the mirrors in.

Thanks again for your help

Cheers

Hi Magnum

Glad your enjoying the car.

As said holding the lock button down around 3 secs will fold the mirrors up.

Holding the unlock button down will open the windows (should go right down). This will also light the headlights if you have the coming home function on.

I'm pretty sure that when you start the engine with the mirrors up the should come down automatically (although mine didnt last time i tried and i had to revert the turning the switch).

Other thing just incase is to make sure you doent leave the mirror switch pointing at the heating element icon as it will leave the mirror heating on.

If you keep the unlock button held down it winds the windows all the way down! Same goes for locking it they go up, this amazes 5 year olds and new car owners alike. Can i ask, do you have to click the main beams on to have the coming home function active??

What kind of fuel economy are you getting? Wondering if the lack of diesel weight might make up for the lack of 18BHP...
