LCR vs ASTRA VXR

VXR

Matt, they are 237bhp, but results never show on a RR as the inlet temp goes mad and effects most readings. Usually show about 220 standard.....

Acid, nahhh, that guy was on his own........ :cartman: But i agree with the polished car remarks... Smooth surface will be more areodynamic that a dirty suface. The moving of the seats down is the right kind of idea in his thinking, but in reality with the weight of the seats etc, its worth nothing.

Seats would need to be like 100kg to make any kinda difference (lowering center of gravity weight). He well and truely got the michael ripped out of him though ha ha.

Be very interesting though when the new LCR eventually surfaces, IIRC the VXR still uses a torsion beam rear axle, unlike the MK5 platform cars with multilink rear, so it shoul be more than a match for the VXR in Cupra form and wipe the VXR out on the handling stakes

On paper the VXR has a quicker 0-60 of 6.2 compared with the LCR's 6.6 and the VXR has a faster top speed VXR 152mph vs LCR 150mph

Although when evo magazine tested the VXR with timing equipment all it could do was a 6.7 0-60 and a 17.4 sec 0-100.

From memory when evo tested the LCR to 100 they got 17secs and the same 6.7secs to 60

So nothing in it in both cars to make any difference on the road!

Remap 1, you have to remap the other and again i think any difference will be down to the guy at the wheel! Both cars are evenly matched IMO

Damn right..... I have test driven a VXR (why the hell not) I loved it...... but wasn't anything special over and above my LCR. Both are awesome cars.

Would think a standard vxr would out-pace a standard lcr..and it varies afterwards due to different specs ect.

My mate has a vxr...stage 2...285bhp 305 ft/lbs torque...It is imensly quick...But theres something about cupras torque curve and lack of turbo lag that makes it very close.

i have a mildly fiddled with cupra (downpipe..filter..sport cat..exhaust...revo stg 2) and in all honesty...the vxr isnt a huge amount faster. I reckon with an FMIC..it would be very close. The vxr stil makes an incredibly sound though.

Ive driven both too and here is my short conclusion....

Astra. Very fast off the line, looks fantastic...but expensive to buy and run. Its a vauxhall...it will lose money faster than you want to know, it will rust, fall apart or catch fire! No really, it will!

Leon. Ok, not as fast, and not quite got the looks and might be a 0.5 of sec slower, come on, like any normal driver will notice it! lol...but cheaper to buy and run. its a VAG car so should last forever...well longer than the VXR!

Choice is a wonderful thing!

what people are forgetting is the astra feels faster because of the way it delivers the power, the leon is far more smooth and progressive in its power delivery, i can guarantee on the road there was would bugger all in it with a std vxr and sd lcr

Yep, id agree with that.

I know this is a bit random...but...go and drive a Smart coupe/roadster... that point will no better made! I drove one and OMFG I came out with a massive smile...the sensation of speed is awsome! felt like i was going warp factor 6....and its only 700cc turbo!!!!!!!
