I think he said the Intercooler isn't fitted yet.

Whatever your opinion keep the petty name calling off the forum.

Petty name calling is a big NO NO but talking about street racing is fine

I think weve got a grumpy Neil on our hands, he's only expressing his opinions, he's not saying VXR's are crap so have some restraint and calm down mate.

I owned a LCR 210 for almost 3 years(unmodded0 and test drove a VXR a while back--it was not as fast as my leon and all the power came on in the first 10mm of pedal, so it was fairly difficult to drive smoothly(and that was without the sport button pressed)-looked nice on 19" wheels and blue paint though--not much headroom for tall people!!

i came up against one on a country road the other day, the old fella driving couldn't pull away and had to stamp on his brakes a few times. at a set of lights i could see him looking in his rear view and i just smiled and waved!

my dad is getting an astra vxr soon, he doesn't like the fact that his boys have quicker cars than him......... my brother has an evo 2 and i've got my LCR. what i haven't told him is that mine will be jabba'd or revo'd soon so his will still be slower!

all Neil82 is trying to point out is that there are far too many people ready to criticise a car theyve probably never driven themselves, especially when its not a fair comparison.

i personally think a slightly tweaked VXR would piss over a modified LCR

i really like them and although i havent driven one, i have sat in the drivers seat and i have to admit they are pretty comfy and seem pretty well put together

'think' being the most common word?

i didnt go about saying they are **** or slow or slower than an LCR or vice versa, i portrayed my opinion

but strictly on technical specifications the astra has the advantage and that is not fiction! more power as standard and around the same weight id imagine which is where i based my opinion..so doesnt seem such a contradiction to me

as opposed to someone going..."theyre slow as ****" or " so much torque steer cos Jeremy clarkson said so" or how about "i kept up with my mates vxr they other day" i personally love the 'my mates got a' statements and they appear so often

Ok, might throw a spanner in the works here, but thought I'd mention Ive driven the VXR, and OMG its mental, pulls away like a wippet on speed and throws you back in the seat with a shunt...the LCR dont! I think I would have got one... but not at almost 20k! too expensive!!!! Great car, fellow LCR (and Diesels) owners approach with caution!

Good thing is in 2 years time they will be 7-8 k, affordable and moddable! vauxhalls have dire residuals.:D

I had a LCR for 3 years (unmodified) and have been the owner of a VXR for the past two months. It is totally different to drive than the LCR; the suspension is a lot firmer, with far less body roll in the bends; which inspires more confidence when I am driving. Also if certainly feels quicker to me to drive than the LCR and is surprisingly well put together. The residuals in a few years time may not be great, but to be fair they were not great on my LCR, which I had to trade in as I couldn’t get a buyer for love nor money. Also the hype regarding torque steer, well if my wife with severe arthritis in her hands is able to handle driving the car, it’s not a problem for me. I loved my LCR, even though it was the most unreliable car I have ever owned, but still feel the Astra is a step up (over a model which is now nearly 4 years old, with an interior lifted from an even older vehicle).

Im a lover of all cars, but would like to say a few things about the VXR..

Running on unleaded, it runs morelike 200bhp. It doesn't feel quick at all, feels positivly boring to drive (feels like a Focus ST, un-inspiring). It has lots of power dips through the rev range. Most "un-educated" people who own one don't have a clue about it. Put Optimax (was designed to run on this) and chances are your be getting more-like the 220-240bhp claimed.

tbh, i've not had any run ins with LCR's, but logic dictates, same kinda weight, more power to the VXR, it will pull ahead.

Any slightly tuned ones are irrelavent as its not standard Vs Standard. We could say, ok, try having a blat against a Stage 2 VXR, simple Turbo back exhast (200 cell CAT), and a remap, say hello to at LEAST 270bhp. I've not personnally been in one yet, but i've seen videos of standard Vs Stage 2. Needless to say, the difference is simply outstanding and it just oblitorates the standard model.....

Don't forget, theres so many factors involved. Bloke I play football with has a black VXR. He puts unleaded in it and complains it uses too much fuel (So go buy a bloody diesel!!!). He didn't have any idea that he's loosing about 2/5's power jsut through using 95 Ron juice.......

Everyonbes going on about the VXR re-sale, but in effect, who actually knows about it? VXR's are selling well, but how many do you see on the road? TBH, i think it'll hold its price about as well as say a Focus RS does. It certainly won't dip like the lesser models.

Any constuctive discussion about VXRs, cool, ask away. Come back with some random your mum type comments and i'll ignore it. [B)]

Not at all. Someone linked this web page, not exactly like i've started a war or nowt...

Those of you that are interested in cars would be keen to learn more about another car in the same catergory as your own?

VXR page, well, the poster, then goes on about someones reg plate, nothing like one of the corsa/nova type pages :p

I've not said a bad word about the LCR here :cartman: (love this smilie ha ha)

I posted the link to this page, as I thought it would be of interest to VXR owners, taking into consideration that there have been several instances of LCR owners switching to this brand (both on vxronline.co.uk and astra-sri.co.uk) . If you search this site you will see I had owned an LCR and an Ibiza Cupra before that. As I said, both were great cars, but as with everything in life, they aged and I needed to replace them.

awwwww i was expecting u off another forum the vxronline one where some kid in a corsa put his back seats down to transfer weight more evenly and kept his car polished thus his car was more aerodynamic and quicker

infact thats far less interesting than the vxronline forum lol they have some really funny threads on there

i never said a bad word about the vxr as i really like them i think they are a great car.All that i am saying is i thought they had like 250bhp or near to that and its nice to know that with only a few mods of the lcr you could save yourself the £20000 price tag.As for street racing is illegal so are alot of things but i am sure we all do atleast one of them every now and then.
