Rev limiter is just before 8 grand but i've got full valvetrain etc. if your sensor is seeing 930 in the downpipe won't it be well >1000c in the throat of the turbo?

not sure mate i have ordered a bigger wmi nozzle from devils own which should be with me in a day or 2 and hopefully the stronger actuator i want 450 for inters with the option for another 100 plus with my cheat gas :)

hi bill max egt was 930 as was logging it :) thats with methanol, need a bigger nozzle though i think as still on the one from the hybrid

Niki has the car back and hopefully be able to map it with the stronger actuator if it comes in time :)

you were logging egt's during that 6th gear vmax run yea?
930'c post turbine (ie in your downpipe) is ~80-100'c higher in measured @ turbo intake terms.. 920'c being factory fuel dump threshold with the egt sensor in the turbo's hotside throat.
did you upgrade the mounting bolts to M10 on that manifold?

keep up these uber high egt's post turbine, and I fear you will shortly encounter issues on fixings coming loose..

If these egt's are at 370bhp level.... they will only get hotter when more is asked of it... more fuel will be required to try and keep a lid on those egt's... if more timing is poss maybe help also
Is this still running the 19psi I think you said? What was actuator pressure for the 19psi boost?

That was me being naughty was told to take it easy but couldn't resist :( not getting above 750 now niki has added fuel dump and now we have changed the Wmi nozzle. I'm going for direct injection for the meth as will be better :)

Any news on high boost?

hi mate with high pressure actuator took it to 23 psi and made 420 bhp torque wise its crazy :) can make 450 lbs ft plus easy but turned it down as not usable

upgraded to tfsi coilpacks but also got plugs but they didnt fit :( need to get them changed few pics below, going to fit coilovers next weekend and make my new intercooler pipes :) cars amazing on the road pulls and pulls :)

getting map tweeked again in a few weeks now i ave a new wmi nozzle egt are a lot better :) going to go for 450 bhp as i have an extra 100-150 available with my nitrous :)

little update was at work raceway last weekend gettin some good times managed a 13.5 at 115mph and that was on a shite surface with the normal overloaded 2 spare wheels toolbox and was on to beat that time till i dropped a valve :( still got a 13.6 but was only 106mph pulled over and wasnt sure what was up so let car cool down then tried to turn over but could hear there was no compression so whipped a plug out and found this :(

on looking in inlet manifold saw this and knew was bad

its also smashed the piston to bits as its bounced around the cylinder :(

and to top it off parts of the valve have gone through the turbo :(

spoke to issam at ina and hes contacted borgwarner on getting a new exhaust turbine so hope can salvage the turbo. the valves were supertech ones but guess even the uprated things can fail, was only at about 6k when happened but on now im building a new head thats agu brought a new lump so going to get that overhauled with new oil pump and bearings :) pissed off as cars only done 700 miles with the big turbo but life goes on :)

Ouch gutted for you this time build it properly with uprated valves and springs this won't happen after that , also as graham says go stroker kit

Do you think spark plug fell apart and caused it to drop a valve or do
You think the tip was just mashed from it dropping a valve on it's own?

Either way mate, massive shame, was such a mint, well spec'd engine!

i think it was exhaust valve that snapped then decided to destroy the engine and then to top it off mess with the turbo :(

**** me I didn't think you had an uprated head what plugs was you using before ?

plugs were bosch super 4's :( not cheap but im sure its the valve thats caused this, looking at weather to use the rods an pistons i have or weather i should make it a 2.1 just gutted as i spent thousands on the last engine :(

there just the standard range plugs ive started stripping the 2 heads going to get the valves fitted with new stem seals and the head skimmed if needed, i had brought some new plugs br8eix but wouldnt fit as plug socket was to thick :( exhaust is 3" turbo back with tiny back box, also my egt are not going above 820 even when giving it some. just gutted as put time and money into this and this happens :(
