Hello Forum Go'ers,

A nice sunny Sunday has spurred me on in to trying to find out what the duce is going on with my LCR recently.

I've had a look, and i'm stumped.

So here's the car and the tinkers:

53 Leon Cupra R
APR remap
K&N panel filter
Blueflame system inc 100 cell cat.
Forge short shift
Forge DV

And here is the issue:

I actually noticed it about 3 months ago, and since it has started to get worse and become more noticeable.

To begin with, if you were heading down the motorway in 6th gear and you booted it, I could hear a faint "squeal". The squeal almost sounds like a fan belt squeal if you know what i mean. There was no noticeable performance degradation or other symptoms when the squeal happened.

Now gradually the problem has started to work itself down the gears, so much so that I can now get it to do the squeal when booting it in second. It continues to squeal until you take your foot off, and there is a definite lack of power from the car. The car noticeably runs like a dog now too.

Its not the clutch, as the revs remain consistent with speed increase.

I've had her plugged in to my VAG COM with no errors back at all. :(

Anyone have any ideas to throw in the pot?

Thanks for help,

Matt

Dump valve spring hey.

Interesting idea... surely the forge DV should be up to the job as standard? Seems odd that you should have to mod a mod! :)

I can't get at the forge now as its roasting hot, but i'll wait until its cool and check then. IIRC the spring inside was actually green?

Can you get different rated springs directly from forge?

Thanks very much for thie advice guys!

Matt

I'd chuck some washers/coins in first - see if it cures it.

Also, I'd be looking for split hoses on the boost side. How many miles has it done? Have youe checked the turbo outlet hose...

I'll stick some 2 pence pieces in there just to test it out I think. But to be honest, i'm fairly sure these guys have pinned the problem down.

I may invest in a set of forge hoses when I get a new spring (depending on how rich I am this month), but the car only has 21k on the clock so I can't see split hoses being an issue.

Thanks for all your help people!
