Try some WD40 down the sides first or get a subframe like I did

I'll see what happens tomorrow, hopefully I can get it done when the subframe is off for the arb, then I can get the wheel alignment done. If not I'll just get a new subframe it sounds loads easier.

Mk2 Leon Cupra R, soon to be stage 2

So yesterday I had a good day dropped the subframe on my car front arb out. I had to remove the brackets off the standard arb for the H&R arb. This was hard work I ended up using a hammer and screw driver to prize the 2 parts of the brackets apart. Then fit the front arb, here is a pic of the 28mm H&R in position with my new BCS exhaust flexi in the background.

Next up while the subframe was off was the THS fr3 torque mount. I thought this was going to be harder than it was. I covered the standard bush in wd40 used a hammer and screwdriver to part the 2 bushes. Then with a punch and hammer I just tapped them out the in with the new/second hand. Subframe ready to go back on the car you can see here the THS bush is solid rubber and the standard has got holes in to allow it to flex.

Subframe on and all bolts torqued up time to set the rear arb. Here is the rear fitted, very easy job to do.

And set to hard. The front bar is on the softer setting I've read this is the best set up for these arb's. Am I right in saying the back hole is the hard setting?

I haven't had chance to try the arb's because of this bloody rain. But on starting the car I could feel the THS torque mount, as slight vibration in the cabin. When the car is ticking over nothing really, it seems to vibrate more when you lift off in gear. I expected worse from reading other reviews.

Next up APR stage 2, Awesome ALK in less than 2 week and I might get the SuperPro adjustable ball joint when I'm at Awesome. So I'm ready for an fast road alignment but I'll have to see how much money I have 1st.

Would be rude not to, may as well while you're there lol ;)

Glad you got the ARB sorted mate

It would be rude not to, I also just realised I get paid the day I go to Awesome so I think I'll ring tomorrow to make sure they have them in stock. :)

It was hard work getting the brackets off, I've got the bracket part numbers just incase anybody wants to try and source them.

Front arb bracket part numbers
Top part 1K0 411 333 C
Bottom part 1K0 411 335 C
Then you'll need the nuts to fit them.

Looking good mate :)

Got to love some handling mods.

Cheers mate,

Car feels better already and I still need it aligned though.

Rang Awesome Gti today and ordered the SuperPro adjustable ball joints. They'll be in along with an Awesome ALK ready for me to pick up a week on Friday when I go down for the APR stage 2 upgrade to make the most of my BCS downpipe and 100 cell cat.
Then I need a fast road alignment to make the most of my handling mods.

Cheers fella, red and black I bet that looks awesome I was after a red LCR but this came up local to me and couldn't not buy it.
If your going to improve the handling I highly recommend the H&R arb's the car feels really planted in the corners and changes direction loads easier now.

When u going stage 2 ballbag?? 25th did u say?

Hi mate, 23rd this Friday not long now.
I also have Awesome ALK and SuperPro adjustable ball joints to pick up when I'm there and maybe something else if I can get it sorted, fingers crossed.

I got my new boost gauge fitted at the weekend and moved the sender in to the cabin. I think the old sender must have got wet from being in the engine bay.
Anyhow I was quite surprised that with the dp and sports cat fit the cars boost peaks at about 26psi and drops off to about 21-20psi. Before the sports cat was fit on my old boost gauge the car peaked at about 21psi and dropped off to about 16psi.

Mk2 Leon Cupra R, soon to be stage 2

I went for a ride down to Awesome Gti today, on the way down I picked up S3 310mm rear brake set up from a member of the mk5 forum.

There is plenty of life left on the discs and pads so the plan is to get the calipers and carriers powder coated red to match my Brembo calipers on the front, then install them.

Next up was APR stage 2 software, what a difference it hold boost for longer, pulls harder all the way to the redline and the motorsport rev limiter sounds amazing, even with the standard cat back. Love it :)

While I was at Awesome I picked these up Awesome anti lift kit, which is a refurbed housing powder coated red with the SuperPro anti lift bush installed.

And also picked up SuperPro adjustable ball joints, these allow the camber to be adjusted but I can't remember by how much at the moment.

So hopefully I'll be fitting ALK and ball joints soon so I can get some body to do a fast road alignment for me.

I picked this up from the post office this morning.

Second hand Cupra HPFP, it's going to sit in the cupboard until I fancy a bit more power. When the time comes I'll be sending to Awesome for them to send it to APR in America to rebuild it.
