Could someone tell me the diameter of the outlet on my K03s turbo please and whether normal silicone hose is used to connect to this ? I am getting the bits together gradually to have a go at a custom FMIC install with 2.5 inch pipe throughout, which has been recommended. I have already decided on something like a 690mm x 175mm x 64mm intercooler which will hopefully will be narrow enough to hang off the bottom of the crash bar.

Well I am surprised it's that small...been told by a respected mapping company to use 2.5 pipe throughout for a Stage 2 but I can't see any advantage in doing that on the hotside of the intercooler. I would have thought it would just increase lag....bigger volume of pipe to fill. Is it straight off the turbo outlet with silicone then ?

The silenced ko3s reduces a lot through the silencer , a non silenced k03s has a lot larger outlet pipe ,

Yea straight off the turbo with silicone to the charge pipe ,
I don't know a great deal about pipe work sizes and the affect it has so can't comment on that

There's two types of ko3s turbo , one has the silencer built in to the turbo and this then reduces the outlet size , earlier ko3s have no silencer on them

This will only matter between your turbo and charge pipe work , after this use 2.5" all the way round

I find it hard to get my head round the fact that silicone will be able to withstand the heat coming from the turbo..........

I have my sfs oversized tip on my car, had it on now since April and I've had no bother, I do thrash the arse of her now and again, the silicon can withstand some heat so I wouldn't worry to much

Silicone can with stand a lot of heat. What do you think the standard one is made of ? A type of silicone / rubber braid . also it gets put in a heat shield jacket to help protect it

I'm running a pretty big cooler I had to hack away at my bumper big time to get it behind (so I now run Cupra R bumper )
600x300x76 ( I've got reducers from 3" down to 2.5" pipe work after cooler )
Toyo sports type b cooler
Also fitted Cupra R inlet manifold so it switches the throttle body over to the other side of the bay and makes routing pipe work a lot easier as don't have to go over gearbox

Hmmmm......impressed.
I am gonna attempt to get the bumper off mine at the weekend to see if i have the space to fix the size i mentioned in my first post to the bottom of the crashbar. I really want to keep things original if i can and will be happy if i can get 240ish+ bhp with a smaller intercooler.

It's good to delete them as they can hide tiny vac leaks which cost you precious bhp. Once you are remapped message me let me know what power you've made
