Yeap deffinatley do everything you have planned first and remap last to get the best :) Can't comment on the remap, but the mpg is supposed to get better with a better filter ! Deffo use super unleaded too, lasts much longer than the usual from the same amount of a standard unleaded !!

I recon so ! I'd even put money on it doing so. Plus I'm going to add one nearly immediately to my 1.2TSI FR as soon as I get it ! :)

Go for it man, it's fairly cheap in the scheme of things too !

just to let you know ben, ours in a pannel filter ;)

Do you think a K&N filter will do the same? I have a 1.4 SC

with the exception of not having to renew the k and n filter, just what is the advantage of fitting one? i would have thought when the car manufacturers develope a new engine they fit a filter that gives that particular engine optimum performance.

Nope - they fit the cheapest filter that will not starve the engine.
It's all about keeping cost down.

Unless of course you are looking at supercars where every hp is required.

I don't think that is strictly true!
Although cost will be a factor the OEM filter is designed to give best all round performance and the level of filtration it offers is the key here. If you fit a high flow filter you have to accept the level at which the air is filtered to will be less. Have a read of THIS study it explains the difference between an OEM filter and an aftermarket filter.

Just installed the K&N filter. It really makes a difference, even though its minimal but its there. Better acceleration, and throttle response. Cant wait to do the chip tuning. If anyone has an opinion on that please express it. Thanks.

Guys - what filter do I need for the 2012 2.0TDi Ibiza FR? The options go up to 1.6TDi only?
