Just curious, how much would a replacement PD130 engine be?

Anyone any ideas on cost of a replacement, used or reconditioned PD130 lump?

Was curious 'cos our MD has just misfuelled his 5-month old Jeep (with the Merc 320CDi engine). £9000 to replace injector pump, fuel rail etc and retain warranty!

Replacement pd engines have been seen for around the £800 mark, but I'd be dubious as to where it was coming from. If I saw a car being broken, I'd be happy to go and check the mileage / condition of the wreck and remove the engine myself. I'd probavly be happy with a lump for about a grand with a 3 month warranty and some genuine history.

A mate of mine bought a pd130 off ebay as a replacement for his 200k miler, and paid less than £400 inc. gearbox. When he put the engine in it was worse than the one he took out.

Tis all about avoiding eBay for starters! You don't see many genuine engines on there, for the very reason that people are buying blind and with no guarantee.

I have used Sanburn in Coventry in the past (for a PD130 head) and it was in fantastic condition, representative of the mileage and age that I'd been told (25,000 miles) and cost £350 including 4 top notch injectors.

I did try to get a PD150/130 bottom end from them, after my PD115 had a cracked piston. Unfortunately they mucked me around promising parts that didn't materialise, I had to go for a more local alternative...

ASM in Aylesbury supplied a complete new engine - it was a PD130 from a 53 Plate Audi A4 with 27,000 miles on the clock - it cost me £800. Like most breakers yard they provide a 28 day guarantee, so if the engine was knackered they would refund or source an alternative.

It's now been in for 2 weeks and is running sweeeeeet!

Here are the contact details for anybody interested:

ASM - 01296 481788
Sanburn - 02476637376

Cheers,

What happened to the engine at 200k?

If you mean the one I mentioned, then nothing as such. My mate bought the Ebay one 'cos he was thinking that his was getting tired and he needed a gearbox for spares aswell. The intention was to swap his engine and gearbox out, run the new one til he got his gearbox sorted and tested the new one to see what it was like etc. but the new engine he got was a dog, so he swapped his ols one back in again. It's still going as far as I know.
