Juddering when changing gear

Hi All,
I recently installed a new car stereo and in my haste I attempted to remove the plastic around the bottom of the stering wheel. Once the stereo was fitted I put it back and made sure that the pedals moved correctly. Ever since I've done this I've found that when I change gear the car judders as if there's not enough revs for that gear / the anti-stall is kicking in and it's only the changes into 2nd and 3rd when I notice it.

I've kept an eye on the rev counter and I'm over 1,000 revs (2,000 in most cases) when changing gear. This doesn't happen if I try and change closer to 3,000 but then I'm practically racing off the line if I'm at a stand still. At 1st I thought it was the clutch slipping, but this doesn't happen when I'm changing gear to 1st, 4th or 5th gear or when I'm in gear and moving for sometime.

Is there anything I should check?

Car: Leon 53 SX 1.9 TDI - no modifications

Clutch pedal switch, perhaps? Tells the ECU the clutch is depressed and the ECU reduces the fuel quantity. VAG-com can perform a quick check, otherwise you'll have to contort yourself in the drivers footwell to get the connector off the switch.

Well after a bit of testing the juddering needs to be renamed to more of the kangroo effect and thanks to a few long trips and several car parks I think I've found the aswer. The issue is being caused by me letting the rev drop too low on the gear change into 2nd and 3rd and the EMS kicking in with the anti-stall and in effect 'kangroo-ing' the car

I might have found the issue, but what is causing it?

Right there has been a final development in this saga. A friend of mine spotted that the issue occurs when the revs are at 1000. If I change gear (say too early or on a hill ... etc) and fall to 1000 then it's as if the anti-stall or some other system kicks in. This happens regardless of gear (except 1st and granted I'm not going to try this in 5th!).

If I let the revs fall i.e. in 2nd going over a speed bump, try to accelerate at 1000 revs the kangroo effect kicks in. But if I lift off let it fall slightly more the car will happily let my accelerate from about 900 or drop further a just pull its self along on the anti stall (got to love diesels )

Has anyone else experienced this?

Right, problem solved. It was due to the replacement radio not being able to interpret the voume increase functionality from my EMU when increasing speed. As a result it had rasied a fault flag in my EMU and the electronic throttle motor didn't know what to do and as a result caused the kangaroo effect

EDIT: wouldnt have looked at it due to the title not referring to any audio but you didnt know at the time
