Hey guys have a mk5 2009 ibiza.

I've noticed that sometimes when I'm brake my car has a juddering feel, it sort of stutter brakes to to finish, the same sorta feeling when u r about to stall he car but it's not nothing to do with stalling. Just when I brake say to a traffic light etc it's a not a smooth stop but a mild start stop sensation. Also noticed a mild vibration in steering where at higher speeds.

My issue is I know a lot will say brakes / discs but I changed both these about a year ago so not really thinking it's this.

Any ideas.

Thanks.

I would get your wheels balanced at a tyre shop.
I've had my wheels off to 8nspect brakes. I'd this normal. The slide pin is exposed is it meant to be covered by a rubber boot or something?

The slide pin is designed to move with the caliper, not sure if you should be able to see the screw section of it. To the right of that you see that black bung, on the end of that is a cap you can remove and there is a 7mm (I think) allen bolt which you could try tightening.

Yeah I have tightened that with a 7mm all the down. U can tell by the threaded end length if the slider pin that it is all the way home but just can see slide pin. The bit u can see is not the threaded part but the shaft. The lines on it are just marks from grease as u screw it in

Ok well if it's tight then not sure what else you can look at round there. Would look at getting the wheels balanced first which is cheaper than anything brake related.

My older daughter has a late 2009 Ibiza 1.4 SC, she bought it new, I replaced the front discs and pads with Pagid parts maybe a couple of years ago, now she is reporting similar issues, I misheard what the problem was and advised her to get the wheels rebalanced, that was considered to have improved things a bit, but still the issue remained, it was and still is only happening now and again, originally or mainly after a fast bit of dual carriage way on the slow down to the off ramp towards a roundabout. I have driven the car twice, though not on that bit of road, but drove it quite firmly and not found any issues! So, when ECP had an big discount sale, I bought new front discs and pads, again just Pagid, so these new parts rest on my garage bench, but the car never turns up for action, maybe it will get traded in and I'll return these parts to ECP.
Sorry I can't add any insight into what is going on, strange that both cars are roughly the same age?

Hmm I'll add something even more funny to the story. I replaced them with pagid brake discs and pads also??? Coincidence? May have to be a new brand of discs and pads. I will probably also have wheels balanced but again not sure how much I believe will help. As just like yourself I assume u want in hard doing the brake job for your daughter to ensure it was all done correctly and I also did the same so not thinking it was something I did, but I have regreased the pins, put air in tyres and will try a wheelnbalance

One thing maybe to check, are either or both lower arm rear rubber mountings split, just a thought as my wife's August 2015 Polo 1.2TSI 110PS SEL ended up with a split rear mounting bush, probably an extra deep unsighted pothole, VW sorted it out FOC as it was under warranty.
