Bit late but welding on cars is fun isn't it:lol:

Trick is to keep the wire & juice low enough so you don't blow through and do it in short bursts to keep the heat build up low as poss to prevent it blowing through while fusing the weld in.

Bit of a mare with a welding set like that as you havent got all that much fine adjustment which really matters on thin gauge metal

I cant claim the welding as my own work, I was clever and let my uncle deal with it  He's not used to thin metal so found it very difficult, lots of blow throughs. Fair play to him though, its all solid.

Mentioned to him fitting a roll cage somepoint next year..................

Stu, flap disk my best method of attack for tidying up?

Flap disc is perfect but don't be overzealous , you'll sand away the new metal in next to no time if you're not careful.

like i do and then waste more time/wire/rods cleaning it all up again

if it's nibbling at it like that there have you checked under the sealer in the rear arches yet ?

It was screw fixings from an old alarm that caused the rot in the strut, obviously not sealed from behind and water got in. Everything else seems really solid bar surface scabs........touches wood.

Cheers Mike, it might look good again one day

Hoping the lights look as good as they do in my sig. The wheels might get done eventually, thinking of satin orange with the roof done and maybe the sills.
