Well my cold air feed plans for the weekend didn't go well sadly as I wasted a day, so this weekend i'll be back on the case...totolly sober! Basically I got wasted on Saturday night, bundled in a taxi going the wrong way & sobered up 1/2 through to realise I wasn't where I thought I was. Made the cabbie stop in the countryside, paid £20 for the priveledge of going nowhere, rang round everyone for a lift back, got hold of the old dear at 3:30am and arranged a pick up. Trouble was, the pick up point was alot further on foot than I thought so I had to run, p*ssed out of my face, about 2miles. I made it though and ran all the way, too drunk to know I was worn out, stopped and had a wee outside the RSPCA & probably caught on camera too. So yeah, Sunday was a bit of a laaaaaazy day.

I did head to Halfords which as you may expect, had sod all so off to B&Q which hand nothing smaller than 100mm. So i'm off to a local hardware shop tonight and Homebase to see what they have, if not i'll buy some of the neoprene ducting from Ebay and fiddle with that. I did read though that Feel from here does, or used to make battery brackets that enable you to move the battery left a bit, not sure by how much but it might allow the 100mm to go in there.

hahahahahahaha sounds like a good night!

that sounds promising i stripped out that area and could see a small gap between the rad and the front near side grill. or down under the battery and in to the lower front bumper would be my preferd choice but looks hard and i like the fogs i dont want to lose them..

Haha, that wasn't the worst part but i'll save that until after the watershed. I really shouldn't be allowed out anymore even though I just touched 23 :D

That's where i'd like to stick mine down in to but like you say, looks like a tough job. The front fogs are in the right place and look good but the intercooler/intercoolers are in the wrong place. SEAT should have gone FMIC from standard but we weren't so lucky. Have you checked EmDee's build up? He has his cold air feed going from the passenger side fog lamp but of course had to remove the lamp as a consequence. I'd like to look at it again but the pics are blocked here at work. There will be a way, I promise and as soon as I find it, i'll detail with pics.

Updates! Finally a snap of the THS TIP, you all know what it looks like but also pictured is the N249 bypass that I completed.
Also, wheels back with fresh refurb in Porsche Meteor Grey. It's a dark grey, somewhere in between Anthracite and Grey. They look dark in the pics but lighter in flesh, the metallic paint brings really nice shine in the sunlight...more to follow when the sun is back!

Still hunting down some good ducting for the Neuspeed :)

see you've got the best colour mate :D c in your pic for your bypass i see you used the original pipeing ,ive done the same mod an i just ran a bit of 4mm silicone pipe from the hose that comes out at the mani and conected it to the dv same thing only a diferent way i supose;)

That's the next plan now I know it likes the mod but this was a bit of a trial run to see how the car would take it, very well it seems so I am pleased with the results. Best place for some 4mm hose? Did you find disconneting the hose from the Inlet Manifold was a bit fiddly? It's right under it in an awkward place. I'm going to leave all the other hoses & N249 where they are, just in case I ever need to put it back in a hurry.

Thanks for the feedback!

Next up, i'm finally getting around to sorting an air feed. Going for 2ply silicone this time around to test the water but I have a more 'permanent' solution in mind in coming weeks which i'll start constructing after cambelt is done next month.

Cars looking splendid !

If you havent found anything suitable for the cold air feed, try looking for some 80mm hose that a lot of racers use for cooling the brakes.

I got some from a place that used to be in Walsall but paid £20 for 2 meters of the stuff. It was steel wire bound red / orange convass hose so was really strong and didnt collapse easily.

Demon Tweeks might do something

That was on my Octy RS, ran it from the front bumper, in the passenger side wing behind the wheel arch liner and out through the OEM air box feed.

Totally stealthy but worked a treat.

Cheers fox. I've opted for some 76mm stuff which i'll be having a whirl with next week when it arrives. I don't think i'll get the feed down in to the N/S arch without cutting something, even then the intercooler in there & fog lamp will be taking up most of the room and I don't want to risk starving the IC. Im going to have a good old look in the next week though and I will find a good route!

So here is the pic of the air feeds.

The blue one is 2-ply silicone, sprung by a copper coil. It's extremely smooth on the inside in comparison to other ductings I have seen, however it's quite stiff so will need some bending into shape.

The ducting in black is a brand new turbo hose from a Mercedes Actros truck :D. I came across this a couple of years back and found it last weekend in a box in the garage. The bends are almost perfect to fit round the battery and point towards the filter so after some modification, i'll be using this as a temporary solution until I can fit the silicone. The plastic bracket on the end will also bolt to the wing where the OEM airfeed is secured.

...and it's done, after a few attempts, measurements and modifications...the Actros intercooler hose is on!

I kept the pipe complete except cutting off one end of it and not using the bracket. After this, I trimmed the main hose until it was short enough to lead up to the OEM scoop from the grille, then used the end I had removed from the main hose, to fit into the scoop. After some brain storming and getting my friend to give me a hand, we decided that there isn't alot wrong with the OEM scoop, it's just the part that joins onto it thats the issue with no clear path for the air to travel along.

The annoying corner piece of the OEM air feed needed to be moved, it was blocking the path of the new feed. I posted up about this previously and the general opinion was to snap it out. I was reluctant, so found a way around this, by loosening it from it's fixings and moving it over enough for the new hose...what do you know, it worked!

Initial thoughts are that it's good, no insane performance gains obviously but after taking the car for a blast, stopping and opening the bonnet, the filter is considerably cooler and the air feed itself it pretty cold.
