Another day, another expense on the cupra r ! Lol

Today I've had my new tyres fitted and had the toe adjusted.

While it was in the air I had a chance to check out the state of my exhaust system. Bill told me my cat was possibly holding the car back, and from a quick glance I can see why !

Not long till there's holes !

No more exhaust bracket man ! What's going on !




So perhaps the new exhaust system may need to be bought sooner then later...

Finally got round to fitting resistors to bypass the fan unit . It took ages because I have massive fingers and it's a fiddly job.

I just got a new debaffled charge pipe but I am not happy with the build quality.

Looks great on the outside ...



But inside on the nipples it's super rough. So rough when you wipe your finger inside little flecks off ally come off, which is not good !! So I've taken it off until I do something about it.

Got the clay bar out today and the amount of tar on the car was incredible ! Took hours to get off.


Also filed and polished my new charge pipe and installed it.
I have experimented a little with the brackets...



What do you think? I may go over it again in Matt black...

Bet you're happy now aren't you lol? You've spent all this money and you have the rods, you might as well go to stage 2 . If you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost you to get the engine rebuilt, possibly pm me if you don't want to advertise it lol? I'm hi king about it more and more with the upcoming stage2 on mine I just would rather prevent over fix. Josh.

Pm sent. I will be going stage 2 . But I am in no rush. Looking at houses to buy right now so that's my priority. Something to look forward to though!

I got these keys stickers from eBay. Love the sticker bomb effect. And a new 'r' badge, given it is the wrong r badge but oh well.


I also threw in some led bulbs for my interior as well.

Fitted shim to gearbox to reduce gearbox whine and as a prevention against most bad 02m symptoms..

Picture doesn't show it but now there isn't any play on the shaft..

Split a hose on the PCV system so replaced it with some silicone. This is temporary though as I need to replace the whole thing. Which I'll do with an oil catch tank included . Just waiting for some spare moneys

Decided to change the army paint on the charge pipe brackets to Matt black ...

Just read all the way through this thread! Great progress! I'm ready for stage 2 apart from I need an exhaust but I want to do the rods just for safety of the engine, would you be willing pm me how much your rods cost and fitting for them ? And if there is any other bits you could recommend I up rate for stage 2 ? Great work though buddy!

Little update..

I got myself a dinky front number plate



Also changed the alloy wheel colour .
IMO I think it looks loads better than anthracite.


I'll be going to a rolling road day on Saturday with a few friends . Hopefully get some nice pics.

It had a map from the previous owner - I believe it was something like 'bobs garage' or something .
