Is the manual gearbox sharper in response than the DSG?

I have a discussion with my friend.

My feeling is that the DSG7 with the 1.5tsi (and maybe other engines) feathers the clutches in some way, or has a less transient tuning for the acceleration than the manual.

In the manual version with 1.5tsi I seem to remember the car being very sharp to accelerate if you quickly press the pedal hard, giving a feeling similar to whiplash. My DSG does not do this, it's much softer when you quickly depress the pedal. The DSG will a bit more smoothly apply the power, whereas the manual will throw you back in your seat a bit more.

Said in another way, the DSG does not allow for accelerating in a stuttery way, and I do believe the manual does allow this.

Does anyone have recent experience with both manual and DSG who can confirm or deny?

My 1.8tsi DSG is incredibly sluggish even if I press the pedal swiftly. In all drive modes.
However, if I push the pedal right to the floor, the kickback and increase in speed is very impressive.
If I want to overtake on a country lane, I always resort to the paddles.

Generally depends if running the DSG in normal or sport mode.

Also - when driving a manual - you pre plan the gear you want to be in before accelerating
The DSG can only react after you decide to press the pedal

Lots of variables at play here -

The DSG pedal response has two different settings (adjustable via OBDeleven)
Gearbox has Drive and Sport
Driver profile has eco, normal, sport for engine responsiveness

all impact the way the car accelerates and ‘feels’ vs a manual
Everything set to sport, and throttle response set from ‘incremental’ to ‘direct’ will feel very different to eco and drive

You can also have the DSG mapped for much quicker shifts
