where can you get it done? Anywhere around london surrey area?

How did your mechanic get to the turbo?? Was it straight forward? Had mine in getting the timing belt done and he said he'd maybe have to take a wheel arch off to get to the turbo. Think he's just trying to charge me for more time.

Its only the outlet elbow that needs to come off. Wheelarch off? No way. All done form underneath the car in 1 hour's labour plus 1 hour to let the cleaner soak in to the carbon.

The inexpensive DIY method

With a cold engine, unbolt the CAT/exhaust from the turbo (3 bolts).

Liberally spray 'oven cleaner' (£4 carbon remover) into the exhaust side of the turbo.

Work the VNT mechanism for 5 minutes.

Leave for 1 hour.

Give it another spray (aerosol or foam), then work the VNT actuator lever again.

Mop up any remaining liquid

Reattach the CAT, and go for a long drive.

VNT mechanism unstuck.

Not sure if i would use oven cleaner on the CAT, maybe a citric acid cleaner etc.

where is the vnt actuator lever?
could i do this on my drive with a set of ramps?
i'm no stranger to lying on my back in the rain on my drive(friday nights mainly )

Has anyone else had this done or done it...................I've the exact same problem & I'm "getting by" by manually operating the actuator arm until its gets a bit "free" but of course this is only temporary fix.

This stuff sounds good.............£30 as Glynnd says is far cheaper than a new turbo !

Surprised if alot of guys don't get it done.......................if you take note of the number of them that have VNT turbo vanes problem.

To a degree it does sound too good to be true.

so what was the linkage thing i was pumping up and down by hand then?

Jase it was probably the vnt you were moving but a bike pump makes it a lot easier as the vnt can be quite hard to move due to the vac unit

I got this done about a month ago, lef it in with my mechanic. I noticed an immediate dirrerence and I've not gone into limp mode since, whereas before it was doing it quite a bit at higher speeds. I'm guessing though that it's really only a matter of time before it will start again, but a quick fix none the less. Deffo worth the while.

He charged me for 2 hours work. The gear itself cost about 30 quid if i remember correctly plus postage.

buy 5 ltrs of virosol and put it in a sprayer.touch wood it has worked on mine and it took me a couple of hours,you only need to undo 3 bolts.I went out in the car last night,and it does feel noticeable,there is definitely an improvement and a more audible turbo whistle too I think.

I was tempted to buy this product, anything that cleans like to try. I regularly use Millers Sport additive.

I have just booted my car for 500 miles. (manage 47mpg) All I can say is the car is more responsive after the booting. Doing this has cleared any doubts on whether I had issues with the turbo, sticking vanes, maf etc goodness knows how much soot was blown out...

At the weekend I added some silicon dielectric compound to the maf - so hope this also helps

I was advised by forum members, (one who is named sssstew in http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=165333) to exercise the turbo more so decided to try the cheapest option: long hard drives in to free it up. (ie booted about, or should i say plenty of exercise)

My Result - more responsive car, without the clean. I will still drop the Innotec literature off to my local VAG specialist and see what he says on this product ... Never say never.....
