last week the coil pack on cylander number 3 gave up the ghost. so i relaced it along with a new maf. and it fixed the misfire. but since then the car when i first fire it up idles at around 1200 revs for about 5mins and slowly comes down to 800revs. before the misfire it always sat at 800. any ideas what it could be. no fault codes or anything found

cheers

i maybe wrong but is that not the engine working like a choke? mine (when cold) will do the same till its warmed up abit.

i was thinking that myself, but it didnt do it over the winter just right after i changed the coilpack last week.

Maybe it wasnt working right before and is working normal now lol

from cold the high idle should only run for around a minute, less if you are moving in slow traffic etc. 5 mins sounds like a long time.

check coil and spark plugs ......As I found out that when spark plug has not been tightend properly the coil can come off and cause a missfire......hope this helps if not i'll ask some question at work on Monday !!!!!!!!!

i'l check all coil packs and plugs are seated correctly and let you know the results. if you could ask at work it would be great as well mate. much apreciated

Thing is as i have a blue flame cat back it sounds really loud now on idle as the revs are sitting higher. not good for the neighbours at 6am when i'm off to work lol
