im guessing the huge amount of torque killed it!?

it was going like stink compared to rolling road day!! loads faster

if i was running 320lb/ft with a missfire and running lean at rolling road then.....

pushed it too far i guess. still, at least my winter project sorted

Is this where your folks start to curse you for covering the entire house and any available work surface in shiny new bits as well as dirty old oily bits? You'll have to keep a photo diary as you go - be quite cool to see it stripped then rebuilt in chronological order.

Can't believe this latest news....sorry to hear about this.

Turbo OK? No metal sucked in there?

I was going to post the below re uprated rods using the stock pistons and uprated rods but I assume your looking for a new block?

Rods using 19mm pins:

It is a 1 Day job in the garage and you can replace the piston rings while your in there.
Contact Bob at http://www.qedpower.com/ to provide you with IE (Integrated Engineering) 19mm wrist pin fitting rods. This way you continue to use your stock pistons & pins of your AUM (same as U.S. AWP) engine.
Consult with Bob regarding these rods in combination with your motor

BTW: For the rings, get either OE or OE replacements like GOETZE

i have a set of bam forge pistons and some agu rods but i'm guessing u wanna go a bit stronger then that. If u want a hand anytime mate give me a shout i'm only down the road. built my 21turbo engine the same way 255bhp from a t3 standard turbo and a hell of alot of port/polishing/blueprinting and general lightning! was cool when done just body was rusting around the lump.
may also have a block if u need one

hooch, roughly what sort of torque/power were you running to bend that rod? tt/s3 rods must be stronger then as there are a few tt's running circa 350bhp on standard internals:shrug:

I'm running similar levels with stock OE rods on my Golf which has a AUM engine utilising 19mm pins.'

APR are standing by their claim that their Stage 3+ kit can handle 340bhp with OE internals.

Bearing in mind this I won't be tweeking it for more power and I am considering the rods kit and new rings from gedpower. I have yet to here if any other APR Stage 3 customers in US have had bent rods using the APR kit.
The Vortex guys are confident on OE rods up to 340bhp.

How much stronger are the S3 rods than Golf items?
