Cheers mate, that wheel and gear knob look a million times better!

I thought the seats were pretty rubbish but look nice.

It's an interesting thread this one...i'm looking for a Cupra TDi.

Went for a 40 minute test drive in one today. I thought the most disapointing thing was the seats, IMO they are not supportive enough.

At first I thought it wasn't as fast as I expected, but I think it's just smooth. I was impressed how it revved to the redline. I think it has a lot of potential for a spot of tuning! lol I also felt all the controls were a bit light. Trouble is I had just driven 30 miles there in my EVO so anything would have felt slow and light! lol

Didn't really get to test the handling or the brakes to the limit.

the lights on the dash can be adjusted in brighness right down to dim next to the electric headlamp adjuster switch!

alot of ppl complain that there not supportive enough im not small by any strech of the imagination but even my shoulders sit nicely in the seats comfortably! i test drove the pug 180 gti and the bucket type seats in that were stupid they looked the nuts (only good thing on car!) but i couldnt fit my shoulders in the seat!!!!! suppose its all about the shape and size of your body tho but i have no problems at all with the cupra seats!

the brakes are unbeliveable on the cupra no probs there but the handling is an issue handle really bad but nothing a strutbrace coilovers and spacers cant sort out ;)

handle really bad?

in what way?

when I bought my FR I tossed up weather to get a cupra, I test drove one, went to the dentist to get my fillings replaced and thought the ride was shite but the handling was good IMO

major understeer and bit wobbley at really high speed soft conering!

i had a rover 25 with 40mm lowering springs on standard shocks and going from that shi77er to the cupra i noticed that the handling was terrible to how hard i push the car!!! but as i say with all the added extras im happy with the handling !!!!

ahh ok so you like it like a go-cart

fair play to you

I still find the fr too hard but as it's only a weekend toy I'm not too bothered

if it was an everyday car I wouldn't have bought either TBH prob a leon 130pd would have been in order

yeah and the fillings

I lowered my old mk2 cavalier 130 caliber 12 years ago -50mm and handed down the oem springs and dampers to a friend with a 1.6 poverty spec one

I so wanted to swap them back, I really do think it was a big mistake, such a shite ride but it did look the muts nuts

I have since grown out of bouncing down the road and prefer a smoother ride to the decrement of the ride height

but like you say I'm old now, pipe and slippers time

go cart no train on tracks yes!!! :) just bought some hubcentric 20mm spacers and longer wheel bolts would have thought this will make it really good handling or even might throw it out and handle really bad have to wait and see!

Its not too bad once suitable tuned. I had an RS4 for a weekend back in september, when I got back in the Ibiza, it didnt feel slow, although it obviously was realistically much slower. The initial surge of a remapped on is quite flattering. Feels mega quick, but in reality it not.

I still love it though.

Not half... but a strutbrace, and decent tyres really do transform the car. On recent trackdays Ive never had the back end wave around like it used to when it just had a remap.

Felt lovely at the last trackday at Snetterton. I must of some how managed to set it up spot on

that quote was from when the suspension was standard was imho really bad but its definatly getting there i dont know what your opinion is on spacers but ive just bought 2 hubcentric rear 20mm spacers and longer bolts do you recon this will improve the handling as a wider stance or mess it up???

To be honest.... I was waiting to hear your opinion. ;) :roflmao:

Ive had no problems with handling since the strutbrace was added and got F1's all round. I cant see the spacers being a problem, but will wait and see how you get on. ;)

also...Ive also lightened the back end a touch

I actually think it was smoother than i expected. Was probably because I was on a test drive with a lady salesman and I was taking it easy! I thought it was faster than it felt.

I'm still going to get one tho! And I'm having the remap straight away! :D
