Warwickshire once.
I went for the Cupra over the Clio and have not looked back.

My brothers got the 172 sport and it's not a patch on the Cupra in a straight line.

He's also got to rev the nuts off the thing to make it go.

Also the Clio feels pokey inside, just my opinion though!

Yup I have a few times. Its not too bad, but is a bit of an understeery beast. It'll happily keep up with the majority of hot hatches, but does get closed in on through the corners a touch. A front strut brace dials out alot of the understeer which is a must. A cupra on Coilovers would be interesting.

The back end does get very light when braking hard. Braking into paddock at Brands hatch it did wave around alot, not confidence inspiring, but I doubt its dangerous. Coilovers would possibly eliminate alot of this.

But as it goes, it certainly isnt shown up on track by other cars. Get a good set of tyres on it (P-zero's are crap), and a strut brace, and its a nice little package. I usually manage around 16MPG on track :).

As mentioned previous, testdrive it, and see what you think... I bought mine on impulse, but in all fairness... Its one of my best buys to date.

Intresting,

Are you aware of any uprated kits (springs and dampers) that are in existance which are designed for this car?

With coilovers i've always got the impression they aren't designed for the car in any way.

In terms of order I see it panning out like the following:

1. Purchase car
2. Wheel spacers
3. Front ARB
4. Rear ARB
5. Uprated suspension
6. Uprated clutch
7. Remap

Can anyone tell me rough costs and any information about 2-6.

Hopefully I can test drive, organise finance and purchase the car within the next 8 or so weeks!

I would change the oreder slightly ;)

1) Purchase Car
2)Remap
3)front Brace
4) rear spacers
5)Coilovers

Add the clutch anywhere into that when the need arises and your clutch slips alot
