Hiya, i'm new here! Ok my Ibiza basically broke down yesterday and i'm wondering what on earth caused it. I was going along when suddenly the car lost power and the battery light went on.
I pulled over to the side of the road, and haven't been able to start it since! When i turn the key, the lights on the dashboard light up as usual, alarm works so i'm not sure the battery's causing the problem, but i can't get the car to start.
Dad tried to jump start the car but that didn't work. He also noticed when looking under the bonnet there was no spark
On another note, prior to this the car has been a bit hesitant when accelerating, we changed the spark plugs about 3 months ago. But now we can't even get the engine on!!
AA has had to tow the car back. They have said there is no spark, they have checked the coil, they said that works ok. They checked the distributor, and said the rotor arm turns when the engine is turned over. But they're not sure if it is the distributor or the computer. Does anyone have advice on this matter?
Also, would i have the ecu warning light if there was a problem with the computer? I do not have this light up on my dashboard.
It has been very cold lately, could this contribute to the problem?
