Hi all just looking for some advice. When I bought my car it had a new boot handle on it as it still had the plastic on it. A few months after the boot won't work. I can hear it unlocking but just won't open!
How can I get to it to get it open and/or repair?
I guess this has happened before and could be a common issue?
Lastly has anybody any idea how much main dealer would charge to do it?
Thanks guys

I had this problem with mine a few months ago. Think I made a mini guide.
Anyway, its down to 2 problems. You need to re-grease the while mechanism so the catch doesn't get stuck as it's dry. You need to take the plastic boot cover off inside to get to it.
Then if it still doesn't work you have the same problem as I had.
You will have to unscrew the handle, from the inside and take it out. You'll see a spring, which enables you to move the handle. You need to shorten it if Im correct. I did this with mine and it's worked ever since. Just take your time and don't rush into it. Either that or £80 for a seat specialist to do.
I took the fit option.
Any problems, give me a shout!
Tom.

Hmm...can't remember. Might have been. Can't get into my boot. Lol.
It's pretty much what I said. No pictures though, I'm afraid.
Urm...if you attempt it and get a bit stuck, feel free to post some pictures up of the handle from the inside and I'll point you the right way.
Email if you like.

This problem really pee'd me off so I know how your feeling. You'll get through it though. Haha.

The black catch in the middle is the b*****d that I had a fight with!!!! It would go one way but not the other.
Should be 4-6 screws around the handle that will allow you to get it out. Like I said, take your time and remember when things go and you'll be done and dusted.

ok so i took out the 2 screws behind the bulb covers and the one in the inner handle bit your supposed to close the boot with, pulled the trim from the top got my arm in and pulled the mechanism up and the boot popped open. it works again now?!? strange but better than forking out for labour etc hopefully it will stay fixed. i didnt grease it or wd40 as i couldnt be arsed to remove the trim completely!
also fitted a cheap halfords cone filter while i was at it but i have to say i was expecting more dv noise from the 007p...

*update*
being lazy has cost me it's gone again and it's because I tried to open it when it was locked...
Is there a decent fix other than lubeing it up?
I'm gunna smother it in grease 2norow and play about with it before I put it back together...

I had this problem too but luckily i was still under warranty. Way you could get it going again is to take boot trim off, unlock your car, and pull the lever that releases the latch. This will unlock boot and keep it opening from outside again for a week or 2.

I think it may just not unlock because, as mentioned, it need some more lubricant. I think it should work again properly after you grease it up again. Don't hold me to it though!
