Ibiza 1.4 Sport differences

Hello mates,

Can someone explain to me differences between Ibiza 1.4 SPORT and Ibiza 1.4 75HP?
I've managed to see just these few differences (same trim levels): leather steering wheel, 16" alloys wheels and ofcourse stronger engine... But I am wondering is it suspension, springs and ground clearance (apart from tyre size) the same on the SPORT an 75HP version?

And the most important which of these two engines is better, not in way of power but in way of endurance and exploitation?

Best regards,
Ivan

The 100bhp variant which I have loves to rev and takes being grabbed by the nuts in its stride. The suspension is not what i say lower but it is pretty firm. The sport also has quicker/heavier steering and a different throttle map. Also the 100BHP engine comes with rear brake discs.

I cant think of anything else which maybe different.

Yeah, I fotgot about rear brake discs. Ok, clearance from ground of SPORT version is the same as standard Ibiza 1.4. What is throttle map?

There will be no difference in the engine, just interior gadgets/upholstery and the suspension is firmer and sits 20mm lower than standard on 16 inch wheels (instead of 15 inch) and the steering weights up better on the 'sport' models. I would try and get a 1.9tdi though, although if you must buy a small petrol, the best one is probably the 1.4 100hp as it takes a good thrashing well and will make marginally quick progress (just dont show it a hill!). The 75hp will be totally gutless.

Default 1.4 75bhp tyre size is 195/55 R15 and 1.4 100bhp tyres are 205/45 R16 which is all together 1.4 100bhp is 5mm lower than 75bph. Ofcourse if everything else is the same suspension and springs. So how come you get 20mm difference? It is not small difference.
I had 1.9 tdi 110bhp engine in Leon and I am not so satisfied. It is so noisy and expensive for servicing. But has great acceleration and good fuel economy.

the actual ride hieght, i.e the distance from the ground to the top of the wheel arch is 20mm lower than it is on the standard suspension. Yes you are right about the wheel being 205/45/15 on the 'sport' alloys. Why not keep the leon, it will be much faster and more econimical than the ibiza and is much better quality car imo

I had Leon and sold it to my cousin. Now again I want to buy Seat.I didn't like at Leon a few things. It is so immense when you drive it,especially backward, terrible to park in small place.Other stuffs were ok. Fast, maybe to fast for my taste:), good fuel economy. First I wanted to buy Arosa, because I need small city car with small fuel consumption.Mainly because I will drive it in city and without passangers back. But price for good 1.4 TDI or 1.4 100HP Arosa isn't much lower than Ibiza. So I've decided to look for Ibiza 1.4 TDI or 1.4 100BHP. MOT for 1.4 engine is much cheaper than for 1.9 TDI engine...

So, sport version is 20mm lower (suspension about 15mm+ 5mm tyres). I don't like lower cars than standard, but I assume that sporty suspension is much better than standard.

Also as I said in some earlier threads I would buy 1.4 100bhp rather than 75BHP because of engine power and because I would istall LPG system in car.
I only wonder is 1.4 100bhp durable or even better than 1.4 75hp engine.

P.S. Leon MK1 interior is so cheap, especially dashboard plastics and interior of doors-handrails. I can't imagine that Ibiza has worse interior.

MOT is a standard price no matter what kind of car you have so i assume you mean servicing?

No the actual suspension springs themselves are 20mm shorter than those of standard form. Also, the standard sport suspension is ****, most people on here have changed it for something that absorbs bumps better and also handles better.

As far a i know, the 75 and 100hp engines use the same engine block, its things like the exhaust manifold etc, that make the difference in power.

The ibiza interior is very cheap, no soft touch materials in there at all and the plastic scratches very easily.

Yeah, I also have wondered how they managed to get those 25BHP extra, both engines have 16 valves and 2 camshafts. Maybe just fabric tuned, reprogrammed computer, exhaust or something similar. Because of that I affraid that 75BHP engine is durable than 100BHP.
About interior, Leon and I think every Seat untill 2008 -New Ibiza, maybe Leon MK2 not , I am not sure, have terrible interior exactly as you said for ibiza is the same for Leon MK1!
Polo for instance has pretty much better interior but Ibiza is 100 times more beautiful. Fabia quality and look I don't want even to comment.

100p 1.4 engine is proven to be reliable as vw have been using it for years in other cars as well
