some may say lala land....
Had problems with mine since the first cold day after buying the car. Now I get to guess whether the changer will :

1) Just ignore discs because their diameter is 0.000037562mm too small for the mechanism to pick up and the HU will therefore display NO CD1 when trying to change to the disc.

2) Recognise that there is a disc in the slot but decide that it doesn't fancy listening to New Order today and display CD ERROR when trying to change to the disc.

3) Decide that heavy traffic isn't enough to deal with and display ERROR when trying to change discs, meaning that I have to reach over, open the glove box, eject the caddy and put it back in again, cursing that the 10-disc changer in the boot of my S40 never gave me a minute's trouble.

Never bothered going to the dealer with any of this because I knew that it would behave itself perfectly when they checked it out and they'd blame the discs not being clean.

Scarily enough, I have these exact issue with mine.
Had to have the cartridge changed within first week of purchase as it wouldn't read any discs. Now I just have same issues as MarkE. Feel like changing but cash is short and so many HU and changes to choose from......

Back from the dead
i bloody hated the stock head unit

- intermittent reading of CD's in head unit
- loud popping when i turned it on
- CD multichanger wouldn't play certain discs
- quality of radio reception poor

When I got my second LCR I ripped it straight out, and fortunately by then they had stopped supplying the multichanger which was actually a blessing in disguise. I was hoping that as it was the same size as the audi head units it may have been a basic Audi Concert head unit in drag - no such luck.

My new purchase, a Seat LC had a faulty changer, according to the dealer. Took the stereo out yesterday to have a gander and the soddin' thing wasn't even plugged in.

Dealer reconed faulty changers were "characteristic" of the Leon Cupra and R's. "Great", I thought :/

Why not switch it for an aftermarket setup?

Our lases is getting checked when in for next service (jst before warrenty expires.

What is this about recond units? how do you tell if new or recon?

Don't the recon ones have a 12 month gaurentee? if so atleast I will get 12 months life out of it before it needs replacing

Mine plays just about anything. I got a big pack of benq discs for 9p each and it plays them, just won't do copy protected disc, but i just import them into itunes and make a copy and it plays fine.

It even played a disc that was cracked 3/4 of the way in from the edge, just a small hiccup when the silver was missing.

All of the discs are copied with easy cd creator or burnt to disc in iTunes.

But the sound quality is rubbish. All bass and no detail.
