Disapointed with Revo!!

Alright all.

After 4 months of owning a black 03 Cupra R i have finally decided to do the Revo thing.

I'm too weak to resist that kind of talk, i'm a guy with a need for speed so have booked my LCR in to Votex in Congleton this Thursday pm.

I'm quite apprehensive but having spoken to Mike am feeling a little more at ease with it all.

Will let you know how it's gone on Friday.

:D

Right had my Revo done yesterday pm and have to say i'm not as impressed as i thought i would be!!

I opted for the map using regular unleaded fuel as my employer pays for all my petrol and wouldn't be to happy if i started pumping the good stuff in.

Maybe i have made the wrong choice here?

Vortex have said that if i change my mind and go for the super fuel they will change the settings of the map to suit, which is fair enough.

I mean the car is definately quicker and can feel the extra torque, i mean the thing spins up in second everytime if required but it just ain't amazing me.

I've read other peoples posts and they have been wetting their pants after the remap.

Not blowing my own trumpet but maybe i've become more customed to strong acceleration due to my bike (see pic left).

Maybe i was just expecting too much affter reading the other posts??

Maybe it is just the fuel??

Any thoughts............?

Even when standard the manual and the info on the fuel cap tells you to use Super Unleaded. So if you use the wrong petrol, you'll get less performance. And Revo will thrive off better fuel, without a doubt!

So I'd strongly suggest getting the map changed and using the correct fuel :)

Could it have something to do with the standard DV?? Im no expert though, so i may be corrected shortly.

Matt

Alright Matt

Here's the other thing, it has had the dv changed to a forged dv what ever that is.

Vortex sadi that it was a good vale even thougth the plank that had inbstalled it had put it on the wrong way round.

Actually preferred the little mouse fart it made when you came off the gas when it was the wrong way round.

Don't know if this would of made a difference to performance being the wrong way round

To be fair mate i wouldnt know. Iv not done a single thing to my Cupra. I was just going off one of ur earlier posts where you said u were still on a standard DV.

As others have said though I would highly recommend using higher octane fuel, i've started using Vpower just lately and theres a definate difference. Its a shame the closest Shell stations round us are Winsford and Chester.....i cant think of any closer ones.

Matt.

Yeah i didn't know it had an upgraded dv until Mike at Vortex took it for a test drive a repoted it being the wrong way round, opened it up and saw a nice shiny dv sitting there (every cloud...).

No way i'm travelling over there to fill with Vpower, especially as i only get 200 miles from my tank!!!

I've read that the Tesco stuff is o.k and even Sainsburys!!

I think i'm gonna run the car on this tank of standard and then fill up with Super and get the map changed.

That way i'll know what i'm missing.

Might change the filter for one of those green things before hand.

Just hope my Director doesn't start reading the fule receipts!!!!

Tesco 99RON Super Unleaded gave my car just as good, if not better results than V-Power so if you have no Shell garages near you, try that.

If he complains, hand him your owners manual or show him the sticker on the fuel lid. I'm sure he wouldn't complain about people using diesel in their diesel cars as it's more expensive than petrol, so why should he complain about you using the correct fuel for your car?

You won't notice a stunning difference running v-power over 95UL.

What I'm mean is, if you're disappointed with Revo now, putting v-power in it is not going to make a neck-snapping difference.

Give a bit, let it adapt, if you're still not that impressed pop back to Votex and have a chat ask if they'll do some logging/put it back to stock for a bit (that usually does the trick - you'll notice it then).

Don't forget you have a 30 day money back guarantee (AFAIK), so the sooner you register your unhappiness the better. I'm not saying this is a Revo thing (I'm Revo'd) but if your not happy, then you're not happy. It might not suit your driving style for example. The money back guarantee shows Revo's ultimate customer service, IMO.

Yes you do have a 30 day money back but dont expect them to just hand over your cash back straight off, i manged to get my money back from revo after 3 months but it took a letter.

I agree give it a week if you are still unhappy ask them to give the car the once over for you..........wouldn;t be the first time somebody forgot to tighten a clip on the DV or the extra boost caused minor leak etc.

Yeah, hopefully it shouldn't take 3 months. I wonder how it works with the dealer and the dealer credits system - I bet that can add some delay...

Nice one fellas

What i am planning to do Phil (not sure if iexplained properely) is to use up the 95 ron in my tank, fill it up with 99ron (Tesco) and get the remap changed accordingly to hopefully notice the difference.

If not, as suggested, there is always the refund option but sounds like the correct fuel will give me what i'm looking for.

No, I think I got what you were saying.

I still doubt you will notice a difference, having just been remapped.

I can tell a difference (so much so that I use v-power whenever I can), but what I was trying to say was that the difference is not massively significant.

It's much less noticable than the difference between a stock LCR and a remapped LCR on 95UL, for example.

It won't make you less dissappointed.
