How to update RNS 510 FW & Maps?

Need some tips...... managed to get FW 3810 & V7.1 maps but I got the files save on my PC !

So do I:

a) Burn them both onto the same DVD?

b) on seperate DVD's or on a memory card?

c) install the FW 1st & then maps

d) do I just insert the DVD's?

I don't want to end up bricking the unit!!!!

FW3810, is this a VW RNS510? If you've managed to find a new FW for SEAT unit or a generic RNS510 FW that will work in all units let's all have it.

The maps need to go on a DVD, what size are the V7.1 maps, I've just done v7.2 and needed a dual-layer DVD to fit, I used a Verbatim DL DVD+R and burned at the slowest speed. It took 2.5 hours to go through the update. The update progress bar seemed to go back to the start a couple of times, can't say how many as I popped out from time-to-time to see how it was going. Either this is normal or it was having trouble reading the DVD, anyway, got the 'upgrade success' prompt at the end.

The FW needs to go on a separate CD

I think it'll be for only the VW RNS 510 as they're not doing any updates for the Seat version?!

Guys, I need help again......

I'm trying to install v7.1 maps & it was going well - status bar got to the end & then in ejects the DVD & now keeps asking for the "Navigation CD to be inserted"!?

I've put back in the DVD & it still comes up with the message!?

Anyone got any ideas?

I used verbatim & managed to find V8 maps!

It spat the disc out a couple of times but it did work in the end!

Works perfectly with 3800 FW & the new maps finally have my road!!!

Ditto for me mate too. Would love to know as my 5 digit postcode version is not too clever!
